Chapter Three

1. No one at the station besides Vic, Travis and Maya knows that Andy is gay.

2. Andy and Vic have been dating since before she became captain – 7 months ago, Ross knows, they signed all the needed paperwork.

3. I honestly don't know where I'm going with this story.

Andy locked the door and rushed into her bedroom, not even bothering to get changed, she crawled under her bed covers after slamming her bedroom door closed. She sent an email to Ross, saying that she was sick and needed a week, turned her phone off and then just started sobbing. Michelle was the last bio family member that she had and that thought broke her. She let the tears fall, not even trying to stop them because who cares when you feel like you've lost what's mattered most?

While Andy was in bed, she had a missed call and email from Ross, a few texts and a call from Andy and a bunch of texts from Michelle. All went ignored.

It was the next morning and when Andy rolled over, she noticed a dull pain in her head that brought back her memories of the events that happened the previous night and her eyes welled up. She got up and walked to her bathroom and groaned at the ache that came when she turned the light on. She felt like she had a hangover without having fun the night before. She grabbed some Tylenol, took it and then walked back into her room. She changed into some shorts and a tank top and then grabbed her phone.

She saw that she had a call and an email from Ross. Andy sighed and played the voice mail Ross left.

Herrera, I don't know what that email was about but no one, especially not a captain, takes a week off without a proper explanation. I'll be by your place tomorrow morning. I expect you to answer the door when I knock. We need to talk about this. I'll see you soon.

Andy sighed and looked at the time.

10:47 am

Shit. Andy thought. She'll be by any minute now.

Andy rushed to put on some pants and semi-straighten up her messy apartment and was just getting a glass of water when there was a knock on the door.

Andy sighed and walked to the door after putting the glass down.

Without saying a word Ross barged into the apartment. "Herrera, care to explain the email you left me at 11 pm last night?" When Ross didn't get a reply, she walked closer to Andy. "Herrera," Ross paused, waiting for Andy to look up at her. When Andy did, she was surprised by the pain she saw in her eyes. "What the hell is going on?"

"With all due respect, Chief. Besides knowing that Vic and I are together, my personal life is just that, personal."

Ross looked concerned. "Andy," Andy looked up, surprised Ross used her first name. "What happened between the end of shift yesterday and last night?"

"Ross, I'm sorry but I can't talk about it." Andy was about to say more when she heard the door open and someone came in. It was Victoria Hughes.

Oh shit. Andy thought.

"Andy. What are you doing here? I thought you were staying at Michelle's after you came out to your aunt and uncle at the dinner yesterday." Vic asked and Andy wanted to facepalm.

Ross furrowed her eyebrows. "So that's why you sent the email. I'm guessing the dinner didn't go well?"

Andy looked down and Vic came over to her, resting a hand on Andy's shoulder while the other went under Andy's chin and lifted her head up to look her girlfriend in the eyes.

"Andy, talk to us. Tell us what happened." Vic asked. "Please," Vic begged when Andy wasn't saying anything.

Andy pulled out of Vic's grip and moved to sit on the couch. "The dinner was going fine but towards the end, I decided to tell them that I'm gay." Andy sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "They told me to get out. To not come back." Andy told them, feeling the tears well up in her eyes again.

"Andy, oh, baby." Vic sat down next to her and pulled her into a hug. Vic looked up at Ross. "I'm guessing we're going to need a few days off, Chief," Vic said and was surprised when she nodded.

"I'll see myself out," Ross told them. "I'll check in soon to see how you're doing, Andy," Ross said and then walked out. Wanting to leave the couple alone.

Once they heard the door close Vic felt the first tear hit her skin and her heart broke. "Shh. Andy. Shh." Vic rubbed her back. "It's going to be okay. I promise. You still have lots of people around you who care for you." Vic squeezed her tighter when Andy let out a sob. "You have Maya. You have Travis. You have Carina. You still have Michelle and you will always have me. Okay? You hear me?" Vic asked, pulling back to wipe Andy's tears away and look her in the eyes.

"O...Okay." Andy managed to get out.

Vic gave her a small smile and pulled her into another hug. "I love you so much, Andy." Vic pulled back again.

"I love you too, Vic." Andy pulled Vic into a soft kiss and then rested her forehead against Vic's. "Always and forever, baby." Andy let her lips switch.

"Always and forever, Ans." Vic smiled back.

It was silent between the two for what seemed like forever when Andy got up and walked to the bedroom, not saying a word but knowing that Vic was following behind her. Andy changed back into shorts and then crawled back onto the bed and under the covers.

Vic just watched her. She didn't know what to say. When she came out to her parents Andy had been with her and they had been nothing but supportive. She hated that Andy had to go through such hatred with the only bio family she had left.

Vic kicked off her shoes, changed from her jeans into some sweats she had left here a while ago and then crawled into bed next to Andy and wrapped her in her arms. She felt Andy turn around and felt her breath on her chest since she was also wearing a tank top.

"Andy, get some sleep, okay? I'll be right here. I promise I will not leave you." Vic told her, squeezing her into her body, trying to make sure Andy knew how much she loved her.
