guys I found this in my drafts as well so I might as well post it now 😭

(all written in y/n's pov)

I was so excited when Chris suggested we go shopping for summer clothes together. It was our first summer as a couple, and I couldn't wait to pick out cute outfits to wear on our dates. We spent hours at the mall, trying on different styles and laughing at each other's fashion choices. It was the perfect day.

As we walked back to the car with our arms loaded with shopping bags, I felt a rush of happiness. Chris opened my door for me and I slid into the driver's seat, eager to head home and show off my new clothes. I started the car and pulled out of the parking lot, with Chris beside me, chattering away about random things.

But as we merged onto the highway, something went terribly wrong. I pressed down on the accelerator pedal, but it wouldn't budge. I panicked, feeling the car picking up speed as my foot remained glued to the floor. I tried to pull the pedal up with my hands, but it was stuck fast.

"Chris, something's wrong with the car!" I shouted, my heart pounding in my chest. Chris grabbed his phone and called the police, explaining our situation as I struggled to keep the car under control. I was swerving in and out of lanes, narrowly avoiding other cars as the speedometer climbed higher and higher.

The voice on the other end of the line told Chris that I should try pulling up the emergency brake gradually to slow the car down. I hesitated, fear gripping me as I imagined the car flipping over with us inside. I didn't want to put Chris in danger, but I knew I had to do something before it was too late.

Taking a deep breath, I reached for the emergency brake and began to pull it up slowly. The car shuddered and jerked, but the speedometer finally started to drop. I could feel the tires screeching as I fought to keep the car steady on the road. Chris was gripping the door handle, his face pale with fear.

"Almost there, y/n. You're doing great," he encouraged me, his voice steady and reassuring. I focused all my concentration on bringing the car to a safe stop, my hands shaking on the steering wheel. And finally, with one last tug on the emergency brake, the car came to a halt on the side of the highway.

We sat in stunned silence, hearts racing as we tried to catch our breath. I turned to Chris, tears welling up in my eyes, and he pulled me into a tight hug. We were both shaken but unharmed, grateful that we had escaped a potentially disastrous situation.

As we waited for the tow truck to arrive, Chris held my hand and reassured me that everything would be okay. He praised me for staying calm under pressure and handling the situation with courage. And in that moment, I knew that I was with someone who would always have my back no matter what.

By the time we arrived home, the sun was setting and the sky was painted in shades of pink and orange. We unpacked our shopping bags and I tried on my new clothes, feeling grateful to be alive and safe in Chris's arms. It was a day I would never forget, a day that tested our relationship and brought us even closer together.

As we cuddled on the couch, watching a movie and eating popcorn, I whispered a silent thank you to whatever higher power had watched over us on that fateful drive home. And I fell asleep that night with a heart full of love for Chris, knowing that we could weather any storm as long as we had each other.
