Back to Melissa pov:
Soon after we had come out of Clays room and back downstairs more people started to come there. I actually recognized some of them from the last party. Some even remembered me. I tried to not seem like I was at the wrong place. I almost glued to Sasha but she didn't seem to mind. At times she talked to some other people but mainly she seemed to wanna hang out with me. Maybe she didn't want me to feel alone. Or might be just because we're best friends. I knew this would never be my life or my people but for some reason I felt like I would really like that. I glanced over Sasha's shoulder and my eyes locked with Clay's. My heart started to race again. He smiled at me and made my knees feel weak. I remember how he had been on top of me a while ago. He had been so close to me that I could easily have kissed him.
-Hellooo, earth to Mel! Sasha said and waved her hand in front of my face.
-What? Sorry I must have zoned out a bit, I answered.
-Yeah, hard not to notice. You dreaming about him again, are you?
-Him? Who? I tried but there was no point. Of course Sasha knew. She could read my like an open book.
-Oh please. Since you first saw him you have been so smitten. I understand, he is cute. And I love him like a brother. It's just... I've never seen you like this.
-Of course you haven't. I've never liked anyone before. But it's just a little crush. You know, I don't know if I ever see him after today. Hey, do you know how he has this huge mansion? I mean it's so expensive and he's living alone.
-Umm, rich parents, hard work I guess.
-What does he do for living? I tried to ask but Sasha interrupted me.
-Hey we should get some drinks! Come, she said and pulled me with her to kitchen. Kieran was there and gave us some drinks. I didn't know what else to do so I tasted my glass. Eww, how could anyone like this stuff? I thought to myself. I turned to talk to Sasha but she was already flirting with Kieran. Again. So I quietly left the room with a drink on my hand. Even if it tasted awful at least I had something to do with my hands.I sipped my drink again. Still tasted as awful as before. I noticed Chloe talking with some other people. She saw me too and waved at me so I decided to go to her. At least she seemed nice. I had a feeling that some of these people didn't like me that much. And usually I was right about these kinds of things because I was good at reading people.
-Hi Melissa, I didn't know you were here too, Chloe said.
-Yeah came with Sash, I answered. Chloe smiled at me encouragingly but I noticed one of the other girls didn't seem too happy about me being there. I tried not to look at her.At some time I saw Sasha coming back, laughing. I went to her.
-Hi Sasha, remember me? I asked her.
-Hiiiii, she said. She was clearly a bit drunk. Oh yay.
-You kinda forgot about me, I said to her. I wasn't trying to be mean to her. But she knew I didn't know other people here so I wanted her to be with me.
-Sorry Melissa, I thought you were with your man, she answered.
-Like I was with mine, she continued.
-Ummm, Sash, he's not my man, you know that.
-Oh please, you like him don't you? And clearly he doesn't have a problem with you. So he could be yours.
I didn't know why she said it. It wasn't like that. He was nice to me, polite. But not interested. From the corner of my eye I saw the girl looking at me, the one who didn't seem to like me being here.
-Sash, who is that girl in a pink dress, talking with Chloe and the others?
-Ugh, Amy. She's a bitch. Clearly drunk Sasha was a bit different than normal Sasha. She was very outspoken. I wasn't used to seeing her drunk. I was glad that I had only had that one drink. We were interrupted by Clay.
-Hello ladies. Can I steal Melissa for a little while? He asked and didn't even wait for a response. He took my hand and walked with me outside.
-Haven't seen you for a while, he said.
-Everything okay? He asked and I just nodded.
-Good. I know you don't know these people so it must be a bit boring for you.
-Well not boring. A bit weird though. I mean I'm not usually a partygoer. And... I stopped talking. I didn't want him to know how pathetic my life was. No friends, never had a boyfriend, strict parents who didn't let me to do anything. He must already think I'm pretty lame but he didn't need to know all the details.
-Yeah, I kinda figured that out already. And Sasha told me a bit about your parents. How they treat you. It must be awful. He seemed actually like he cared. Probably because I was Sasha's friend but still. Still I felt ashamed. And then I realized why he was so nice to me. He felt sorry for me. Of course.
-Yeah, I hate it, I said. And it was the truth. I didn't feel the love between me and my parents. That's because there wasn't any. I was their child but they never treated me like one. While we were talking we had also walked to his pool. We sat there, our feet touching the water. Some of the people were in the pool. That seemed nice. Like all of them were having a good time. Clay must be very popular cause he had so many friends.
-So does Misha like the party? I asked. Clay smiled. It wasn't like his cocky grin or his sexy flirting smile. It was genuine.
-She likes the people but not the noise. She is upstairs in my bedroom.
Right. His bedroom. Where we were earlier. No big deal.Someone jumped into the pool near us and the water splashed on us as well. So now I was wet. Thank goodness I didn't have a white top on, I didn't want to wear a see-through shirt.
-Well not that we are wet anyway we should jump into the pool, Clay grinned at me.
-I don't... I don't know, I said and turned to see him. That was a big mistake. He was just taking his shirt off. I couldn't turn to look away even if I knew I should. I just stared at his bare chest like a stalker. I had known he had a great body before but seeing him half-naked was a totally different story. He looked amazing. He... wait a minute. He had a totally cocky grin on his face.
-Take a picture, it'll last longer, he said and winked.
-I wasn't staring! I zoned out, I tried to tell him but he just laughed at me.
-Sure, tell yourself that. But we both know the truth, he whispered in my ear. And like a little school girl I blushed. Again. He left his jeans on and hopped onto the pool. Water splashed more on me. If someone would have seen me now and didn't know better they would probably think it had been raining. I sure felt that way. From the corner of my eye I looked at his shirt on the ground. Yep I hadn't been dreaming. He definitely had taken it off.
I had left my guard down and of course he had noticed that. I shrieked when he pulled me to the pool. He didn't let go of me, his strong arms were around me. I was gasping for air but in a little while my breath got steady again. Then my brain finally realized what was going on. Clay was holding me very tight. He looked at me into my eyes. He wasn't smirking anymore like he had when he pulled me into the pool. He leaned a bit closer. This is it! I thought. My first kiss! And it's with Clay! But instead of kissing me Clay whispered in my ear
-I was right. There's no point of denying.
I didn't know what to say. I felt so stupid. Of course Clay didn't kiss me. Why would he? I was just a nobody. I tried to pull away but he still had his arms around me. He watched me closely a while still not letting go of me. And then he kissed me. He actually kissed me! It was the sweetest feeling ever. His lips were so soft. First the kiss was tender but then he pulled me even closer to his chest. The kiss got more passionate. I put my hands on his hair and his hands were wandering on my back. It felt like I was in heaven! A small sound escaped from my lips. But he didn't seem to mind. I didn't even notice the water around us or remember the other people there. In my mind there were only the two of us.
