Chapter 2: Back to School Cookout

It had been a week since school stated back and a full week of Sophie watching the kids a few days a week. Nate and Alicia thought it would be fun to have a back to school cookout at their house and invite their friends.

   It was a Friday morning and Alicia had just got to the university and walked to her classroom. "Good morning everyone, let's get started" Alicia said to her class. "I'm going to take role, say here or present when I call your name" said Alicia.

"Luke" said Alicia. "Here" said Luke. "Rachel" said Alicia. "Here" said Rachel. "Chelsea" said Alicia. "Here" said Chelsea. "Daniel" said Alicia. "Sophie" said Alicia. There was no answer... "Sophie Watson" Alicia said again. Still no answer... "Does anyone know where Sophie is?" Alicia asked. Nobody knew where she was.

"Okay well let's start the lesson and see if she shows up later" said Alicia. They got started with the lesson and a little later the door opened and it was Sophie.

"So sorry I'm late" said Sophie as she rushed to her seat. "Save your excuse and have a seat" said Alicia as she finished up the lesson. Alicia soon finished the lesson right before the bell rang. "Alright everyone have a great rest of your day, Sophie see me after class" Alicia said. "Oooo" said Luke. "Shut up Luke" said Sophie.

"Guys that's enough, Luke cut it out" said Alicia. Class ended and all the students left except for Sophie who was told to stay after class. Sophie walked up to Alicia's desk. "Why were you late to my class?" Alicia asked her. "I overslept" said Sophie. "That's a bad excuse, don't let it happen again" said Alicia. "Sorry" Sophie said before leaving.

It was time for lunch so Alicia grabbed her lunch and headed to the teachers lounge. "Why are you late to lunch?" Valerie asked. "I was talking to a student after class about being late" said Alicia. "Ooo being all professory are we now?" Jess said sarcastically. "Real funny Jess, I could be like you and not care if my students are late" said Alicia. "Oh who's the funny one now?" Jess said. They started laughing and ate their lunches.

"Oh I forgot to tell you guys, we're having a back to school cookout at the house today after school around 6:00 so bring the kids" said Alicia. "Great we'll be there" said Cassy. "Us too" said Valerie. "Jess what about you?" Alicia asked. "I'll be there for sure" said Jess. "Great" said Alicia.

"Well I'll see you guys later tonight around 6:00" Alicia said as she left to go to her classroom for her last two classes for the day.

Alicia had just finished her last class and was getting ready to leave when someone knocked on the door. It was Sophie. "Sophie, come in" said Alicia. "I just wanted to apologize for being late to class today" said Sophie. "I also need to apologize, I was rude to you for being late to my class" said Alicia. "No, you had every right to be mad it was my fault" said Sophie.

  "I tell you what, tonight I'm having a back to school cookout at my house at 6:00, why don't you come over and you can bring a friend if you'd like" said Alicia. "Oh no I couldn't" said Sophie. "Oh but Sophie dear I insist, it's the least I can do for being rude to you" Alicia said touching Sophie's arm and smiling. "Okay you win, I'll be there" Sophie said smiling back. "Great, see you tonight then" Alicia said. Sophie then left.

  Alicia packed up and headed out but stopped by Jess's room before leaving. *knock knock* "Hey Alicia" said Jess. "Hey, I have a quick question" said Alicia. "Okay" said Jess. "Does my vibe tell you that I'm bisexual" Alicia asked. "Yes and not only that but the way we used to mess around shows me" Jess winked.

  "Real funny Jess, I'm being serious" said Alicia. "Yeah so am I" Jess laughed. "Jess." said Alicia. "Sorry, why do you ask, did someone say something about it?" Jess asked. "No, nobody said anything I was just wondering" said Alicia. "Alicia..." said Jess. "Fine, the kids new babysitter Sophie Watson said that there are signs in the vibe that I give off that show I'm not straight" said Alicia.
