Todd's Pov
Cara and I continued talking, but it was now my turn to ask her the questions.
"Cara. I think it's now time for me to ask you some questions." I say.
"Seems fair." She replies.
"Well first off, how did you even escape the mental facility?! They have maximum security there!" Cara smiles sheepishly.
"Well funny story. It wasn't that hard actually. Though the thing was I wasn't planning on leaving when I did. Which is why Harry found me in only shorts, a t-shirt, and socks-"
"He found you looking like a homeless person?!" Is Harry stupid? Who picks up a homeless person off of the street? Cara gives me an odd look.
"Yeah, he did. But I explained to him that I wasn't homeless." I nod. "I didn't tell him anything about where I came from or anything just that I was looking for you and mom, so if he asks, minimal information should be shared." She continues.
"Got it...but one more question," I begin.
"Hit me."
"What on Earth happened to your foot?!" I ask staring at her foot securely placed in a medical boot.
All of the color drains from her and she laughs the way she always does when she's nervous.
Cara's Pov
Oh dear. I know I should have been expecting this question, but he hadn't asked up to this point and I have been here for awhile and I would just hope he wouldn't bring it up. Now should I tell the truth or lie? Well whatever went down with Harry and Todd wasn't good so I guess I should lie? Oh but Todd and I never lie to each other, but then again, one little white lie never hurt anyone right?
"Well I was at the mental facility and I had been messing around at the basketball court-"
"They've a basketball court?" Shoot. I forgot this whole lying thing has to be believable.
"Yes they do. They created an outdoor one while you hadn't been visiting me." Todd then appears to have a guilty look on his face making me feel even worse for lying to him.
"But they did, and I had been playing on it I tripped and broke my ankle in three places." I finish, looking down at my injured foot.
"I'm sorry that happened, how much is the medical bill? Did you pay it?"
"It isn't your fault, and the mental facility took care of it."
"Ah, okay but it's weird I never got a call or email about this."
"Not like you would have answered or anything." I mumble. Todd gives a look of remorse.
"But it's okay as you are here now." I try to make him feel not so bad, as I think I may have done enough for one day.
"When do you get the boot off?"
"In about two weeks." Todd nods and we then sit there in another uncomfortable silence, which isn't how it should be considering we are brother and sister.
"Soooooo..." I trail off.
"So."
"I'm just going to come out and say it. Where do we go from here Todd?"
"Hmm...I think that from here, you go back to the mental facility and I come visit you with mom once she gets back, and in the time between now and then I'll make sure to call you and such."
I'm astounded. There is no way in heck I'm going back to that horrible place.
"Are you crazy?! If anything that place only made me more sad, upset, angry, staring at those bland walls, being locked up in a dreadful room, nothing but my putrid thoughts to keep me company! You wouldn't really make me go back there, would you Todd?"
