Conan scanned the sea of faces as he strummed his guitar, he was about to perform his encore song Heather but throughout the performance, he only spotted Cassidy once.
"Where'd she go?" He thought to himself as he began to sing.
...
"Cass at least stay for the last song" Natalia begs as she and Hannah run off from backstage and into Cassidy's dressing room as she packs her things.
"He doesn't want me here Nat what's the point? I'd rather not stay in a place that makes me feel like I have to keep up an act!" Cassidy says as she hands Cole her bag and he walks out to the Uber waiting outside for them.
"So you're just gonna leave without saying bye to Conan?" Hannah says, almost like a disappointed mother.
"I guess so," Cass says as Delilah hugs her.
"Well promise me you'll text when you land in New York tomorrow. I want to make sure you're safe" Delilah says, taking Cassidy's hand and squeezing it.
"I will. Just tell Conan I was in a rush okay?" Cass said as she walked up to Nat and Hannah, hugging them both tightly.
"Sure" Hannah replies as she hugs Cassidy back.
The door clicked slowly behind her as she left, leaving the band alone in the dressing room.
"Conan is gonna be so upset" Hannah sighs.
"No kidding," Nat says, her eyes drifting to the exit door.
...
Conan eventually finishes his set and runs off backstage to see no one was there to greet him except for his stage managers who helped him take off his mic pack. He wanders into the dressing room and notices the band all sitting together talking but they pause when they see Conan.
"Hey, where's Cass?" He asked, noticing that she was the one missing from the group.
The band all share a glance before Hannah breaks the silence. "She left with Cole to a hotel. She wanted me to tell you she was in a rush"
Conan could've sworn he heard his heart tear like paper ripping. "What?"
"Yeah..." Hannah trails off, seeing Conan's expression change in an instant.
"Okay- I'll be on the bus then," Conan says finally, turning around and leaving the band.
Conan heads outside and into the tour bus, his hands shaking as he opens the door to his room and shuts it behind him, tears finding their way out of his eyes as he lets out all his pain, his shoulders shaking violently with each sob.
"I did so much to make her happy and now she doesn't fucking love me back," Conan thinks to himself.
