☆Y/N's POV☆
It took about twenty-five minutes for Sunny to finish safety-pinning up the rest of your outfit. You felt more confident in an outfit that didn't sag and smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Sunny!" You smiled up at him.
"Oh, psh! It was really no problem! And I really prefer being called Sunny!" He said enthusiastically, smiling and sticking his tongue against the gap where his missing tooth should've been. The four of you exited the room.
"Okay, team!" Joslyn spoke up. She clapped her hands together loudly. Sunny jumped, startled, and saluted. Joslyn ignored him and carried on. "We have exactly..." She glanced up at the large sun/moon analog clock on the wall. "Two minutes and forty-nine seconds until this place opens. Sunny! You're on snack duty! Go make sure the cabinets are fully stocked. Moon and Y/N! It's training time. Moon, please give Y/N a basic run-down of how we do things around here. I'll go make sure everything's up with the security desk. Ricky's done with his work for now so he'll be helping out on stage with Freddy and the gang. Something about new tech needing to be set up." She muttered the last sentence under her breath, almost where you couldn't hear her. "He'll be available in a couple hours. Let's get moving!" She clapped her hands again and Moon started walking to a side of the room with shelves without waiting for you. Sunny shot off and weaved between the play structures and Joslyn walked off to the big desk by the front.
You jogged to catch up with him and tried matching his pace when you did. "S-so-" You started, but got cut off.
"We use the sink-or-swim method in training here." He reached the shelves and started rearranging the items and toys on the shelf. There was a paper taped to one of the bars with a little angry Sunny drawing saying "Ask for Sunny or Skylar for toys! And NO CLIMBING!". You furrowed your brows. You haven't heard of a Skylar here. Maybe they were an old employee here? Moon's sharp voice recaptured your attention. "Just follow Sunny or my lead and you'll be fine. We go playtime, crafts, snacks, activities like a puppet show or hide and seek, nap, playtime, and pickup. Think you can handle it?" He finished organizing the shelves. You nodded meekly.
"Uhm- I think so?" You said, looking behind you. Sunny was skipping back to the front doors, tying his long-ish hair up as he did. You smiled slightly; the pointy bits of his hair reminded you of the sun's rays. Moon tossed something at you and it hit the side of your head, bouncing off and falling into your crossed arms. You looked down and saw an apron. Moon was tying one to himself.
"You're going to want one on. Trust me." He offered a very small grin and walked off, back to the doors. You rushed behind him, throwing the apron on messily. When you returned, Sunny started chattering.
"Oh boy, I can't wait to meet all the new friends and see all my old ones! It's been like... two months! Golly, that's a long time! I can't believe summer's gone by so fast! Y/N, you're gonna love them! Did Moony take you through our schedule?" He hopped from one foot to the other.
"Uhm- yes! He did-" You started again. You couldn't exactly remember what order. Was it playtime, snacks... nap? No, nap was near the end.... Playtime, crafts.... snacks? Your brain hurt. It was way too early for thinking. Joslyn came up behind you.
"Ready, Y/N?" She asked, startling you. You spun around and looked at her, nodding and attempting a nervous smile. "Great. Smile pretty, everyone. The kids are coming in." She pulled the doors open. A very large group of people were clustered in the lobby area. You put on your best smile.
"Welcome back, everyone!" Sunny's voice echoed throughout the large congregation. Cheers from kids and chatter ensued. "We've got a bigger playspace for you guys! I can't wait to see everyone's faces, and our new friends too! So lets get a line going and we can check you all in!" Joslyn nudged his side. "Oh! And we have a new friend to help us out! Please make sure you give a big hello to Mx. Y/N!" And with that, the kids started pouring in. Family by family, the children were greeted with hugs or high-fives from Sunny and, to your surprise, Moon. Most of the kids ran out to the play structures immediately, starting up games of pretend or tag. You looked around awkwardly when you felt a little tug on your apron. You looked down and to your left to see a little girl with wide, bright eyes and an innocent smile.
"Hi-hi!" She chirped.
"...Hello there-!" You sputtered, crouching nervously to her level.
"Are you a grown-up?" She asked, her eyes wide. She tugged on her shirt and tilted her head. You nodded, a faint smile on your face. "Oh, goodie! Could you maybe get down Candy Cadet from the shelf?" She grabbed your hand. You bit your lip, unsure.
"I'll need to ask Mr. Sunny or Mr. Moon-" You stood, grasping her hand. You walked a few steps over to the boys and saw Sunny sitting on his haunches and talking sweetly to a kid that was clinging to their parent's leg.
"It's very nice to meet you, Tyler! I'm Sunny - Why don't you come inside? We have lots of fun games and yummy snacks for you! All our other friends love to play games, too. What games do you like to play?" He asked, reaching his hand out. You looked over to see Moon checking in families with a clipboard. You decided to ask Moon.
"Er- Mr. Moon? Our... friend- What's your name again?" You asked the girl clinging to your hand.
"Maria!" She smiled. "Can Mx. Y/N get Candy Cadet from the shelf?"
Moon looked down at you, holding the clipboard an adult with three loud kids was writing on. He shrugged. "That is up to Mx. Y/N." He said softly. Maria grinned.
"So would'cha? Pleeeeeease?" She pleaded, looking up at you and pressing herself against your legs. You smiled.
You took her hand again. "Only if you can help Mx. Y/N and point out which one is Candy Cadet." You replied, giggling. She cheered and tugged on your arm, sprinting to the shelf. "Woah-" You started, before almost tripping on the matting on the floor. When you finally got to the shelf, you looked around. Maria pointed to a little toy robot on one of the higher shelves. You reached up and grabbed him, handing him to her. "Here you go, little bit!" You exclaimed.
She gave you a hug, though Candy Cadet dug into your thigh and you winced silently. "Thank you!" She ran off. Good lord, the anxiety you had. It had already gotten so loud. There were kids everywhere, screaming and running and tackling each other. You spotted Maria and a group of other kids at one of the tables with Candy Cadet. It was moving around and lighting up.
You started to wander around, observing the little niches of kids spread throughout. You saw how the ones that weren't playing tag were having an imaginary game. Others were playing with blocks or plastic dinosaurs and horses in various areas. You felt someone small bump into you from behind. When you turned, you spotted a little boy. "Hey!" He said, smiling. "Wanna play tag with us?" He reached for your hand and started pulling you towards the playset.
"S-sure! Why not?" You said, catching up to his pace. "Who's it?"
He giggled. "You are! Tag!" He quickly let go of your hand and darted into one of the colorful tubes. All the other kids in the surrounding area screamed and scattered, laughing. You smiled in spite of yourself and followed the boy into the playset.
☆Sunny's POV☆
I had just welcomed the last group of kids in the lobby in, helping Moony close the doors. I turned around and saw Y/N chasing a bunch of kids through the jungle gym. They managed to catch up to one and tapped them, then turned to run in the opposite direction. "Look at them, Moony! They're already fitting in great!" I said, nudging my brother excitedly. I ran over to join Y/N's game of tag. Moony stayed behind with his arms crossed, though he had a small smile on his face.
I think Y/N will be more important to Moony than he could ever imagine.
