i | daisy chains

The day of Edmund Bridgertons death felt like the whole world stopped. The shock that he died by bee sting sent the ton into a frenzy.

Lord and Lady Avalon made their way over to the Bridgerton house, they were the only acceptable visitors.

When the Avalons were in the house, Lady Avalon who was heavily pregnant also,  immediately made her way to find an also heavily pregnant Violet Bridgerton who she was informed could not be consoled. Lord Avalon made his way to Anthony, Marianne made her way to Daphne and Alexandria wandered out to the garden to escape the sitting room which just had a sad aroma to it now.

Alexandria thought she would be alone but instead comes across Benedict who is sitting on the grass with his back facing her. Alexandria makes her way over to the grass and sits down next to a sobbing Benedict.

"Hi Lexie" Benedict says quickly wiping his tears away. "I saw you crying, it's okay to cry you're grieving." Alexandria says smiling at Benedict sadly.

"It's not very manly of me" A 13 year old Benedict says bowing his head down towards his lap. "Who cares if crying is manly or not you've just lost your father and now your life will be forever changed, the whole situation is very sad." Alexandria says wiping a tear from Benedict's cheek. "I know if I lost my papa i'd be in floods of tears" Alexandria adds.

"You know for a seven year old you're very sympathetic and clever" Benedict says smiling sadly at Alexandria. "I'll always be here for you Benny even if I do play with Eloise more" Alexandria says which Benedict takes with a pinch of salt as Alexandria's  only a child and children just say anything, and they sit in silence.

"Here" Alexandria says breaking the silence and Benedict looks up from where he was scribbling on his drawing pad. "I made you a daisy chain to cheer you up! I would've made El one but she' can't be cheered up." Alexandria says excitedly passing the daisy chain to Benedict who immediately puts it on his head.

"This is the best gift ever" Benedict smiles which makes Alexandria smile.

"What's that?" Alexandria questioned pointing at the drawing pad on Benedict's lap. "It's a drawing pad which has all of my sketches" Benedict says sounding a little embarrassed.

"Can I see some!" Alexandria asks. "You're the only person who's seeing these" Benedict says before opening up his drawing pad and flicking through the various sketches which leaves a young Alexandria in awe.

8 years later.

Alexandria Avalon wasn't kidding when she said she'd be there for Benedict. Alexandria was constantly checking up on him and always made sure with every visit to at least spend a little time with him.

"Ben, these are marvellous! You need to show these off" Alexandria says as she flicks through the various sketches.

"They're not worthy of being shown off" Benedict said sadly. "Ben, people would pay lots for these!" Alexandria encouraged.

"I know how much you want to get into art school, you must apply!" Alexandria says. "I'll consider" Benedict smiles.

As Alexandria is flicking through the various sketches she lands on a picture of herself sitting at the windowsill looking out onto the street. Benedict managed to make Alexandria look so beautiful it makes her blush furiously.
