You met him in a hospital. They never could keep you in your bed. You were weaker than the other girls, you were weaker than all the girls your age. No one could explain it. The doctors said it wasn't life or death, but they still wanted to treat you. They wanted to help. You didn't want there help. He found you in that hospital. Call it fate, because you didn't know how else to explain it. Even back then you knew he was your soulmate. What else could it have been? What else could explain why the boy with the IV would walk by the room you were hiding in that day? How he spotted your H/ced hair peeking out from behind the beds.

You met him in a hospital. The boy walking past with an IV in hand, his bright brown eyes finding yours so easily. You still remembered the soft pitter pat of his shoes as he walked the empty hall, the quiet was so easily shattered by the boy. You piped up behind the hospital bed. Your head finding its way to the opened door. You remembered not being afraid of being caught. You found yourself drawn to him. You were drawn to him. Maybe it was because you were so use to being lonely, you wanted to get better to play with the other kids. But something about him felt special. He was special to you.

Why would you have been? It was only the boy you'd come to fall madly in love with. The boy you met in a hospital: Yuta Okkotsu. The boy with the brown eyes you loved. "Do you think... do you think that we can get married..." You had so much fun with the boy. Young children playing in a sand box. An older women could walk past. She'd shake her head, a nostalgic smile on her face and sigh. 'Young love,' she'd think before continuing her brisk walk. You two would continue to smile because, no one else would have what you two did. "-When we're older?"

No one else had a love story like you and Yuta did, you were sure of it. Because, no one could make you feel like you did when you were with Yuta, and by the smile one his face and the look in those bright deep brown eyes, you knew he felt the same. He was such a shy boy. But once he came out of his shell, he shined so brightly. Even brighter than you.

It happened in the sandbox. You had these nightmares. Nightmares where you'd wake up and everything wasn't real. Sometimes you'd find yourself pulling back, away from this reality, staring at Yuta and remembering something... Something you didn't... know anymore. but it was Yuta's birthday. It was his birthday and you got him a gift; with the help of your mother's money, you had gotten him something nice.

Yuta was building a sand hill, a nice and smooth one. He made sure it was as smooth as possible, although imperfect he was in the process of patting them away firmly. "Yuta, I have a birthday gift for you." You said, your hands holding the small box in front of you as you said this. The words, they didn't sound like you... You found yourself pulling back, your eyes wide as you looked at the black-haired boy in front of you. "Y...Yuta...?"

"Huh? Are you okay?" The boy said worriedly, his face twisted in an expression of confusion. "Should I get your mom..?" He asked as he looked around the playground for the women. You immediately shook your head. She'd rush you to a hospital, whenever you acted odd, or got hurt, that'd were you'd go to stay for a couple of days. You were always sick, but you'd be released anyway, and it would be the same.

"Mm!" You protested through shaking your head, extending the gift further to him, he looked at you for a moment before giggling. His smile widening so you could see his bright white teeth. His eyes wide and happy as he should be. There was a saying, "There's nothing like a first love." It's true. You knew its true because there would never be anything like what you and Yuta had. You didn't want there to be, because you wanted the two of you to be special.

"Ahaha, thank you!" he smiled and grabbed it. "Can I open it?" He said curiously, his eyes finding yours because, they brightened when they did because even if you two were still children, you both loved each other. You nodded, a bright smile on your face as you leaned closer to him. "Really?" He said happily, extending the box so he can look at it over his head.

"Yes! go ahead!" You giggled, you found yourself leaning back, away from Yuta, the words, the words you spoke didn't sound like yours today, yet they also did? You spoke them so naturally yet they felt so foreign. Yuta opened the box.

"Huh? Its a ring." He said, a dumb look on his face while he held it up. You giggled, and nodded, you leaned closer to him, almost over the boy! He leaned back a blush on his face while he looked at you, he had almost dropped your gift at the suddenness of your movement. But it was important to you, it was important because it felt like it was you doing it,

"Mhm!" You nodded, "It's our engagement rings! Because..." You suddenly found yourself embarrassed; you grabbed his hand. The one clenching the ring that was almost dropped because of you. "Because you said you wanted to get married when we're older." you told him, cupping his hand between both of yours. His eyes widened as he looked at you. "So, lets promise, when we grow up, we're going to get married to each other."

You had nightmares, nightmares that nothing was real. That he wasn't real. Nightmares were you died, died in a car crash. Yet you also had nightmares of ugly monsters, and a white haired man. A handsome white haired man. You were only so young, you didn't know what to believe.

After you said those words to Yuta, you regrated them. Not because you didn't mean them, no you could never. The reason, it was because while you looked up at Yuta's widened eyes, you remembered that you weren't you. Y/N L/N, was who you were. but you were supposed to be Rika. Yuta, in all your nightmares of him not being real. He... You didn't want to think anymore.

No. You refused too.

Even if you knew you'd die. A car crash. Even if you knew you'd end up cursing Yuta. You didn't want to stop. The love you built up for the boy, you didn't want to give it up. No, you refused to give it up. The matching rings, the matching memories, the everything! You were playing in the sandbox when it happened. when you two promised each other, you'd stay together forever. And when you remembered it.

You met him in a hospital, the boy you love. The boy with chocolate eyes, and black hair. You were weaker than the other girls. Footsteps, walking, a boy was walking by. The only thing preventing the door from slamming shut was a small rubber stopper. That was when you met him. That is when your love story began. In a hospital.

There was a saying, "There's nothing like a first love." It's true. You knew it's true because there would never be anything like what you and Yuta had. But, in the very same breath, there was a reason it was called a "first" love. A first, not a last love.

And that's what made it hurt so much more. Yuta Okkotsu wouldn't be your last.

but, you'd be his. You'd be his forever. Wasn't that romantic? You liked to think so at night, while you hold yourself and listen the the curses gargling and squealing. The gross sounds some of them would make as they inch across the floor. Your head so far under the covers while you listened to the creatures you had just suddenly started seeing one day.

'One day.' One day you said, like it hadn't been the day that changed everything for you. It ruined you. It ruined him.

you ruined his life. What was suppose to be his story, you took. You didn't want to die and become Rika. You were afraid that day. So afraid you held his hand tighter. Your eyes wouldn't meet his, you were both so young, he assumed it was an off day for you.

You didn't want to die.

That day, you were afraid. Because you'd lose the love of your life, lives. Both of your lives you had only one love. I'm your first, it was anime, diving yourself so deep in the black and white pages of manga you feel through them. I'm your second, it was Yuta. Yuta, Yuta, Yuta, the boy you met in a hospital. The boy who had everything you'd learn to love right there in his eyes. His chocolate brown eyes.

You didn't want to die.

That day, you were suppose to die. You didn't want to die. You didn't want to fall through the pages again, you didn't want to swim anymore, you wanted to stand on sturdy ground. You wanted to build a foundation of a home with him.

That day you had failed.
