You remembered it raining blood.
Your lungs were heavy as you carried the girl and the two boys. Still you didn't speak nor complain. You didn't speak to them, nor reassure them. Silent pants of your breath as you tried not to let your body give out. Grunts of frustration ran through you as you carried the cursed bodies.
They wanted to live.
They wanted to live and you'd protect that.
"Welcome back." Gojo smiled at you as he leaned against the car. You nodded as you tried to catch your breath. "You did well."
You had passed out as soon as you made it to the barriers end.
You sat in a hospital bed. Gojo beside you as the doctors gave you more IV. They knew your name here. You were always sickly. "They say both Maki and the kids are going to be fine." Gojo said, nodding to the nurse as she left. "They're going to run some test on you and then you'll be discharged good as new." He added on.
"I know.." you spoke softly. Gojo hummed along with your words.
"I didn't know you were a regular here." He added in amusement. The flowers you've received were from nurses and doctors that knew you. Gojo grabbed one of the three bundles of flowers and held it to the light of the window. You just sighed and nodded again.
"They don't know what's wrong with me and probably never will figure it out." You said softly hugging a white pillow close to your chest as you sat up in the bed. "They just know somethings wrong with me."
"Mm.." Gojo nodded. He made no effort for more words and you didn't really mind that. You mom had busted earlier and... you didn't really care much for anymore words.
A boy walked past your room. Your door was open wide. Thoughts of missing the boy quickly flooded into your mind.
a glance and your finger and... maybe this wasn't so bad.
Yuta didn't get to live very long... but maybe he wanted to carry on. Why else would he have cursed you? Unless... you cursed him... were you that obsessed with having a life with him? He was your everything. It was confusing... so confusing. In your first life, Yuta cursed Rika... right? It was hard to remember... so maybe he did curse you...?
Still, No matter how much of a shallow motivation that was... you'd try and keep people living. You knew you couldn't save everyone, and maybe you didn't value life that highly... but...
it would keep you going for just a little bit longer.
Maki and Toge were a whole two laps ahead of you. You panted and stumbled to run after them while they passed you, again. "Maki and Toge! It's your last lap!" Panda called out only to add more salt to your wound. You sent panda a small glare, which he caught and put his paws up in defense.
With the extra motivation you ran the smallest bit faster.
"Y/n!" Gojo called out to you. A saving grace in the dark world of running. The light at the end of the tunnel, the savior of the zombie apocalypse- "after you finish, I want to show you something." Heartbreak, the man who spread the virus to begin the end of the world, the beginning of the dark tunnel, crushed hope: Gojo Saturo. The man who wants you dead, death via exhaustion.
"Why??" You whined and watched as Toge and Maki were so... so far ahead of you.
"That wasn't fair- I was a sickly child!" You rant to Gojo as you two go God knows where. In the end you were one lap short of completing your laps. Gojo, after getting bored waiting basically said, 'good enough' and here you were. Gojo unlocked and opened a door, inside of it was a room filled to the brim with...
Weapons? "Go on, after you." Gojo said allowing you in first. "It's nearly impossible to exercise a curse as big a Yuta. But breaking the curse is a different story." He said as his finger trailed along the stealth blade of a sword. Your eyes widened and you stepped forward. Getting rid of Yuta? No, you never wanted that. Yuta... Gone? No why would he ever suggest something so horrible!
"I never said I wanted to-" you trailed off, almost automatically you went to go against it. But... the nagging thoughts in your head disagreed. This... needed to be done, right? Even if he cursed you, or if you cursed him, especially if you were the one to curse him... He needed to move on. "I just... don't know." You said, because still. You didn't want him to go. You wanted to be with him, even if it was just a cursed part of him.
"Yeah, you don't know." He agreed, Gojo didn't seem to understand it the way you did. He didn't seem to know how you felt regarding the matter. Maybe he knew the surface level of how you truly felt but, your heart ached when you thought of Yuta leaving you. "You have to identifying thousands of knots of cursed energy, unraveling them one by one. It's a method only you, the person cursed, can do." He said as he rooted through the weapons and cursed tools. He held something up. A danger. You looked at it curiously and he threw it at you.
You scrambled to catch it.
thankfully, upon second glance the blade was sheath. "It's a danger, one of a set of triplets." He began and held up two more in both of his hands. "You used cursed energy before, when you called upon Yuta with that ring." He said and pointed at your hand with one of the other two daggers. "Curses are most stable when they're possessing an object, the pipeline is there, so borrowing some of Yuta's curse and eventually you'll have Yuta's curse under your control." He explained, "once you do that, you can be free, if you so choose." He stay quiet for a single moment, "both you and him."
"Yuta..." you trailed off as you looked at the dagger. You didn't want to let him go. Just the thought of him not being there anymore. The absents of him, it hurt your heart, squeezing it like it was a ripe orange ready to be made into juice. The weight of the thought alone suffocated you. Heavy, it was a heavy weight on your chest. Yuta, gone? The same boy you knew since you were seven? Gojo smiled and suddenly all three were piled up in your hands. "Uh..." you struggled to hold all three.
"Yup! And you'll also have to learn how to use these trusty daggers!" He explained gleefully, his face suddenly way to close to your own. "Until you can combine both skills- you'll still be weak! So let's get you training!"
