After Shepherd was thrown into the brig, Usopp, Zoro, and Dino (who fell asleep) waited patiently for Rimuru to come when they noticed the marines had left.
Usopp: That's weird. Where did the marines go?
Zoro: No clue, but I can feel tension I the air
As the two were on edge about what's happening, they heard a commotion along with familiar voices.
Usopp looked out of the cell and saw Mekao surrounded by the marines.

Drake: Mekao!? *angry* WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING DOWN HERE YOU CRAZY OLD FART?!!
Mekao: I CAME DOWN HERE TO ASK QUESTIONS!! THERES NO NEED FOR THOSE SWORDS BOYS SO PUT THEM AWAY!!
As the marines were putting away their weapons, Usopp and Zoro realized they're setting up an ambush.
Mekao approached Usopp, who was surprised he wanted to see him.
Usopp: What are you doing here, old man? Did anything happen to the Merry?! Is she alright?!

Mekao: You're the one who does the repairs, right?

Usopp recounted what he saw at Skypiea about the mysterious person, which made Mekao remember something.

Usopp was happy that someone believed what he saw, but his conversation with Mekao was interrupted by the marines who were dragging him away.

As Mekao was being dragged off, Usopp took his words to heart.
Elsewhere Rimuru is crawling through the vents to look for Zoro after picking up Nami's waver.
As crawled through the vents, she spotted Sanji and Luffy, running in the halls.
Rimuru was annoyed that the two were running around instead of staying put and rolled after them through the vents.
