The next morning, Namjoon awakens to the soft rays of sunlight streaming through the window. He stretches, his muscles stiff from sleeping in an unfamiliar bed. Glancing around the room, he sees that Jungkook is still asleep, his breathing steady and even.
Careful not to disturb him, Namjoon slips out of bed and tiptoes out of the room. Downstairs, the house is quiet, the only sound the soft hum of the refrigerator. Ji-eun is in the kitchen, preparing breakfast with a smile on her face.
"Good morning, Namjoon-ssi," she greets him, her voice warm and welcoming. "Did you sleep well?"
Namjoon nods, returning her smile. "Yes, thank you. Where is everyone else?"
Ji-eun gestures towards the living room. "Jongsuk is on a call, and the kids are playing outside. Eunwoo went for a run, but he should be back soon."
Namjoon nods, feeling a pang of disappointment at the mention of Eunwoo. He knows their relationship is strained, but he can't help but feel a twinge of guilt at the thought of making him uncomfortable with his presence.
As Namjoon sits down to have breakfast, he can't shake the feeling of unease that settles over him. He knows he shouldn't let his newfound feelings for Jungkook cloud his judgment, but it's easier said than done.
After breakfast, Namjoon decides to go for a walk to clear his head. He wanders through the fields behind the house, the sun warm on his skin. As he walks, he can't help but think about Jungkook and the complicated feelings he stirs within him.
Lost in thought, Namjoon doesn't notice when someone falls into step beside him. Startled, he looks up to see Eunwoo walking beside him, his expression unreadable.
"Hey," Eunwoo says softly, his voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "Mind if I join you?"
Namjoon hesitates, unsure of how to respond. He knows their relationship is strained, but he can't bring himself to push Eunwoo away. "Sure," he replies, forcing a smile. "I could use the company."
For a while, they walk in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Namjoon can feel Eunwoo's eyes on him, his gaze heavy with unspoken questions.
Finally, Eunwoo speaks, his voice hesitant. "I know things have been... complicated between us," he begins, his words careful. "And I just wanted to say that I'm sorry if I've made things difficult for you."
Namjoon nods, his heart heavy with guilt. He knows Eunwoo has every right to be upset with him, but he can't bring himself to apologize. "It's okay," he says softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "I understand."
Eunwoo sighs, running a hand through his hair. "I just... I want you to know that I care about Jungkook," he says, his voice filled with emotion. "He's my best friend, and I don't want to see him get hurt."
Namjoon nods, understanding. He knows Eunwoo's feelings for Jungkook run deep, and he can't blame him for wanting to protect his friend. "I care about him too," he replies, his voice tinged with sadness. "But I don't want to see him unhappy."
Eunwoo's expression softens, his eyes filled with understanding. "I know," he says softly. "I just... I want what's best for Jungkook."
Namjoon nods, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. Despite their differences, he knows they both want what's best for Jungkook. And maybe, just maybe, they can find a way to coexist peacefully for his sake.
As they continue their walk, Namjoon feels a weight lift off his shoulders. He knows their relationship is far from perfect, but he's grateful for the chance to clear the air with Eunwoo.
Back at the house, Namjoon finds Jungkook sitting in the living room, lost in thought. He looks up as Namjoon enters, a small smile playing at his lips.
