Tripti bit the hand covering her mouth, and the person quickly pulled back. He turned on the light, revealing a young man standing in the room. Startled but determined, Tripti demanded,

"Who are you? Why are you here at this time?"
The man responded calmly, "I'm Jashan, Karan bhaiya's brother. I came to apologize on behalf of my family."
He continued with a friendly tone, "You're my bhabhi, but believe me, our family isn't as bad as they seem. They just don't like new people. Will you be my friend? I promise to treat you nicely, unlike the others."
Surprised by his kindness, Tripti replied with a small smile, "Okay, I'll be your friend. You're the only one who's been nice to me, apart from Pakhi aunty. Please, have a seat."
Jashan noticed the wound on her head and immediately fetched a first-aid kit from a nearby cabinet. He gently started applying ointment, his concern evident.
"Why is your head bleeding?" he asked, worried.
Tripti hesitated but eventually said, "Your brother threw me to the floor."
They began talking, and over the next two hours, they shared stories and laughed. The initial awkwardness melted away, and they felt comfortable with each other.
"Mr. Jashan Best Friend, from now on, you're my favorite person in this house," Tripti said, laughing.
"You're my favorite person too, bestie. Finally, I have someone to talk to in this house," Jashan replied with a warm smile.
As dawn approached, Jashan stood up to leave. "Good morning, Princess. Bye-bye!" he said cheerfully.
"Bye-bye, Jasu," Tripti replied with a grin. Jashan left the room, and both went to sleep peacefully.
At 9:30 a.m., the household gathered in the hall. Tripti descended the stairs and greeted everyone with a smile.
"Good morning, everyone," she said.
The family responded, and Pakhi quickly said, "Come on, let's go to the kitchen, baccha. It's time for your pehli rasoi."
Puram looked around and asked, "Where is Karan?"
Tripti, caught off guard, stammered, "I...I don't know. When I woke up, he was there, but then he left while I was in the washroom."
At that moment, Jashan entered with a big smile. "Good morning, everyone! Good morning, Tripti," he said warmly. Leaning closer to Tripti, he whispered, "Princess, congrats on your pehli rasoi. Don't forget to make kheer for me; only then will you get your gift."
Krishna, overhearing, smacked Jashan's head lightly. "She's your bhabhi. Show some respect and stop calling her by her name."
"Papa, calling her bhabhi feels awkward. Eww," Jashan said, scrunching his nose.
"Don't argue with your father," Pawan interjected. "Call her bhabhi, and that's final."
Jashan sighed but didn't press further, noticing Puram's stern glare. He sat quietly at the table.
Pakhi took Tripti's hand. "Let's go, bahu," she said, leading her to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, Pakhi said, "I'll step out. Just make one sweet dish for the ritual; the cooks will handle the rest. If you need help, ask them."
Tripti nodded but decided to prepare the entire meal herself. She asked the cook about everyone's preferences, determined to make a good impression. The cook expressed doubt, saying it would be impossible to prepare eight dishes, drinks, and a dessert in an hour, but Tripti insisted.
An hour later, the cook was stunned. "Madam, she's prepared food for eight people in just one hour, and she didn't need any help!" she exclaimed to the family.
At the dining table, everyone praised Tripti's cooking. Pakhi noticed the bandage on her head and asked with concern, "Are you okay, Tripti? What happened to your head?"
Tripti gave a small smile. "It's nothing, aunty. I'm fine."
After breakfast, Jashan suggested, "Bhabhi, let's go shopping and then catch a movie."
Tripti initially refused but eventually agreed after much persuasion. She went to her room to get ready. While brushing her hair, she noticed the door opening. Thinking it was Jashan, she smiled, but her expression changed when she saw...
To be continued...
