I felt a chill roll up my spine, I knew something was wrong. I sensed it.

Layla: "What's wrong?"

I left without saying a single word.

Layla: "Ana, wait!"

I stopped in my tracks

Ana: "What?"

Layla: "What's up with you?"

Ana: "I know something's wrong, why would they shut down the school for no reason?"

We were silent for some time

Layla: "Maybe... maybe the building just broke a little, or just a small fire in the kitchen!"

Ana: "If it were any of those, they would've told us to evacuate immediately, Layla."

Silence filled the hallways once again.

Layla: "Why are you acting like this?"

Ana: "I... I guess I'm just overreacting..."

Layla: "You know, maybe you are, silly. Come on, let's get some juice from the vending machine."

We walked upstairs slowly

Layla: "Maybe this isn't as bad as you think it is, Ana."

Ana: "You're right... no one's gonna kill us or anything."

Layla: "Exactly, you have nothing to worry about, girl."

We kept walking up the spiral stairs

Ana: "I'm so tired, should we sit down for a second?"

Layla: "Of course!"

We sat down, I began to think on why the school could've locked down all of a sudden, I was overthinking it too much... why? Why couldn't I just act normal? I hid all of this, put on a smile and acted like... I acted like my stomach wasn't tied up into knots, I acted like my thro wasn't blocked completely, I couldn't speak about it. I knew something was wrong.

Ana: "Race you upstairs!"

Layla: "Wait- WHAT-?"

We laughed and ran as fast as we could, until I fell down the stairs.

Layla: "OH MY GOD, ARE YOU OKAY?"

Blood gargled in my throat, my nose and my leg. My ears ringing and my legs bruised.

I was unable to verbally say anything.
