Chapter 1~ Sylus

The pencil seemed to have a mind of its own. The scrawl of graphite thickening as the lines on the paper began to be covered in it. I was lost in the world of my imagination, not paying attention to the explosions that happened around me, oblivious to the sound and debry. Someone tapped me on the shoulder.
"Sylus!" a girl next to me practically screamed in my ear.
"What?" I yelled back.
" Its about to begin. You should be listening." she paused, tilting her head in curiosity " Were you there again?"
"Yes, I was. And I was getting something done. Finally." I muttered the last part.
"Well don't get all huffy at me." She said jokingly.
Just then a bell rang out, and I realized we were not in a place where I should be writing. This was a realm that drained every individual of its uniqueness and imagination, School.
The door opened and swung against the wall. A tense looking woman walked through the door, and set her stack of books on the desk in the front corner of the room. She faced the class of wild animals , and almost felt bad for her, but that feeling was replaced with curiosity when her green eyes flashed gold. I turned to say something to the girl next to me but I was drowned out by the teacher.
"Class sit!" A strange feeling came over me, but I wasn't able to focus on that as the whole class went silent. Everyone froze what they were doing and walked over to the nearest seat and sat down, but I was already seated. The class was eerily quiet as the teacher got out roll-call.
" I am Ms. Natmen, the new teacher for the writing class. This will be an interesting year." She said it in a practically monotone voice, backed by authority.
She began with roll call.
"Anara Ceasark."
"Here!" called the girl next to me.
Natmen continued with roll, and when she reached me she called, "Syluster Braker."
" Here!" I called.
Natmen looked at me. I noticed her eyes flashed gold again. " A very interesting year." She said, still looking at me with those gold eyes.
I would soon agree with her wholeheartedly
