At nightfall

A new arrival

-Almost 9 months had passed since the famous night at the lake between Kakuzu and Hidan. The arrival was more than imminent: it had already been almost 2 months since Kakuzu had been arrested to look after his partner. sasori and deidara were helping to look after Konan and Pain's child, as the banker and the jashinist were too tired to help Hidan in particular. Today Konan was on a mission, as were Kisame and Itachi, and at the lair there were only Deidara, Sasori, Kakuzu, Hidan, Zetsu and Tobi. Hidan was resting and Kakuzu was next door, filling in the organization's financial forms. It was the middle of the night, and Hidan was asleep when he woke up with a sudden urge to go to the bathroom.

Kakuzu: Are you all right?

Hidan: Yes, yes, I just need to go to the toilet quickly...

-Hidan rushed to the bathroom and closed the door, Kakuzu quickly joining him. He sat down against a wall, closing his eyes as the pain began to invade his whole body to a crescendo. 5 minutes later, Kakuzu knocked on the door.

Kakuzu: are you sure everything's all right?

Hidan: yes...everything's fine..everything's fine...

-Hidan tried to disguise the pain in his voice by breathing and taking it in.

Kakuzu: then get out...I feel something's wrong

Hidan: Everything's fine Kakuzu..I'll call you if anything goes wrong...

-Hidan gritted his teeth and restrained himself as much as possible.

Kakuzu: I hope...

-Kakuzu hesitantly set off again, leaving the sliding bedroom door open so that he could run in at any moment.

-The pain had grown rapidly and Hidan was feeling weaker and weaker, but he wanted to manage it alone and not disturb anyone, so he stayed in the bathroom for a while. After a while, Kakuzu appeared at the door.

Kakuzu: Hidan, what are you doing? Open up now or I'll break this door down!

-Hidan could hardly speak, the pain was killing him, and Kakuzu was about to break down the door, but Hidan had shifted as best he could. Kakuzu must have run into the door because Hidan had locked it. Kakuzu looked him up and down and could see that Hidan was suffering.

Kakuzu: ...how long were you planning to hide your current state from me?

Hidan: I can take care of myself, don't worry.

Kakuzu: not at all, you know very well what you risk if you go it alone, your life is in danger I'm calling Konan.

Hidan: don't bother..I don't think he'll be here any minute...

Kakuzu: In the meantime, you're suffering. I can't leave you like this..do you think he'll arrive soon?

Hidan: God, Kakuzu, I don't know!...but right now I'm really...hurting...

-As the discussion progressed and the pain intensified, Kakuzu decided to carry Hidan to bed. Konan was passing by with her baby in her arms at the same time and suspected that something was going on and not in a positive way, so she decided to put her child to bed and hurry to the duo's room.

Konan: are you all right?

Kakuzu: not really, Hidan's in a lot of pain, I'm afraid he's going into labor and the more time goes by, the more I see him weakening in my arms, I can feel him losing vitality.

Konan: I'll examine him and we'll see.

-Konan took off Hidan's jacket and went to get his equipment to start his examination. a few manual positions at certain moments, ultrasound scans.

Konan: hm..indeed, things have started, but...there's nothing more I can do right now..a doctor would be more experienced, but I think it's too early for that..I'm sorry..maybe some herbs or a bath might relax things...

Hidan: Herbs? I need ninja drugs, it's too painful...

Konan: It would ease the pain in effect..but it would be risky for the baby...

-Hidan grabbed Konan's sleeve and looked at her, exhausted and distraught, shaking and unable to think clearly.

Hidan: do as I say!...I can't stay like this!...

-The young woman looked at Hidan and sighed before standing up to see what she could do. She had now gone to a room specially dedicated to plants and other drugs, and was searching in a hurry. Suddenly, she had an idea. Hidan had to be put to sleep in order to open his stomach and save the little creature as quickly as possible. She grabbed a kunai and some drugs and returned to Hidan. The latter had seen her return with all her equipment.

Hidan: Wait wait wait...what are you going to do to me, eh?!

-Kakuzu had angrily pointed at Konan, who had stopped him.

Konan: we've got no choice!...I couldn't think of anything better just now...in my right hand is a powerful drug that will anaesthetize Hidan while channelling his pain. In the meantime, I'm going to cut open his belly and bring out the baby. If the baby dies, I'll ask Pain to resuscitate it and we'll take it to a safe place in the meantime.

-Kakuzu was skeptical, but given the power and multiple knowledge of the akatsuki members, he chose to trust her. Konan had turned to Hidan, who was losing more and more energy and writhing in pain. She approached him and handed him the vial.

Konan: Drink...

-Hidan looked at her skeptically, but she had forced the drink down his throat. He soon fell into a deep sleep, while Konan made the final incision. Blood began to flow as the incision spread over the sleeping man's body. Once done, she tried to access the baby as best she could and used her kunai to cut the cord. The young woman trembled with emotion and stress. The baby didn't really react. The young woman had urgently called her partner and head of the organization to quickly take care of the baby. Kakuzu had only spotted the little one very quickly and hadn't had much time to realize the magnitude of the situation.

Now it was time to take Hidan to a quieter, more comfortable place to close the scars and wake him up. Konan had wiped away a lot of blood.

Minutes had turned into hours and the young woman had come to the end of what had to be done. The little one had been saved in time by bread and now it was time to wait for Hidan to wake up. Once he had woken up, he had to understand that the little one had to be put in a safe place while everything was sorted out and the baby was welcomed and raised in a suitable place.

Hidan woke up half an hour later. Konan stood in front with the baby covered by a cloth. The young woman had stepped forward, presenting the child to him. In a single, brief instant, the world froze, as did Hidan's gaze on this new being. Kakuzu stood back, watching in awe from afar. It was both wonderful and tiring, but also painful, because the little one was going away and his parents were evil-doers, but that was the way it was. He kissed the child's head before lying down again, exhausted. He asked Kakuzu to come closer and hold the child out to him.

Hidan: Kakuzu...take him...I know you'll be able to find a safe place..or ask..Itachi..he'll know where the child will be safe..but...make sure we keep track of the baby..we'll come back to see the baby...

-Kakuzu held the child slightly terrified. The child had finally been named Jouzou, meaning strength, talent. Jouzou had small gray hair and violet and turquoise pupils, a baby whose beauty nature had blessed with rare beauty. now something truly unusual had happened. Kakuzu felt all his hearts beat in unison and with incredible strength at the sight of this baby. He had finally found itachi and explained everything to him. Itachi wasted no time in leaving with a few belongings, in search of places and competent people to look after Jouzou.
