Lillie shivered. "And we're voluntarily moving in? Are we insane?"

We pushed open the heavy wooden door, revealing a dimly lit foyer. The air smelled of dust and ancient secrets. A portrait of Victor Rodenmaar Jr., the strict housemaster, glared down at us. Lillie wrinkled her nose.
"Victor looks like he hasn't smiled since the Middle Kingdom," she whispered.
"And that's just the beginning," I replied. "Wait until we meet the other residents."
