Chapter 2 Just Hanging Out

I woke up at 11 in the morning, I procrastinated getting out of bed like always until I realized Karl would be over at 12 " Shit!" I wasn't one to curse, even though I am 21 I hardly cuss and never would I in front of my parents until I was at least living in my own home" What do I wear!?" I freaked out looking at my closet " Sweetie" Mom walked in knocking " Mom I need help, I don't know what to wear?" I asked " I mean should I wear a dress because it's nice weather or shorts and a T-shirt because it's comfy?" she smiled softly shaking her head " Sweetie are you sure this isn't you want to wear something to impress Karl?" " Mom, no! I told you he's only a friend" I rolled my eyes " I'll bring both, if I get uncomfortable I can just take the dress off because I'll be wearing the shirt and shorts underneath" " There problem solved" I smiled grabbing the clothes and the shooed Mom out the room so I could get dress, but before I could finish I heard the doorbell ring " He's here already?" I rushed downstairs and opened the door" Hey.." "Hey.." I smiled softly as I responded to him "You look comfy?" He chuckled and I panicked. I was wearing a messy bun with a baggy T-shirt and sweats "Umm yeah I was about to get changed. Totally didn't sleep in" I said awkwardly "Let me go change, I'm guessing it's casual today?" I looked him up and down, he was wearing basketball shorts and a causal shirt "Yup" he smiled " Well I'm going to go change now, if you could pack the drinks they are in the fridge, I'll also grabbed the blanket" He nodded heading to the kitchen with the basket with the food in it. I ran up the stairs and changed into a nicer shirt then found a pair of shorts to wear throwing them on, I then worked on my hair, brushing through it till I got a decent result and the threw it up in a ponytail before grabbing my shoes and putting them on " Where are you going Avery?" Stan asked walking in " Just to going to hangout with Karl, he's changed a lot and I want to get to know him" I stated as I walked out and down the stairs seeing him sitting on the couch playing with Chloe who's about 14 now " I'm ready" I smiled holding the blanket close to my chest and walked over to the couch. He just kind of smiled softly at me and got up giving Chloe " I'll play with you later" and she nodded running to play with Stan who went outside " You look so pretty Avery" he said slowly walking towards me , I felt my face heat up and I looked down at the table " Thanks, well we should get going" I grabbed the basket and we walked out to his truck, we threw the stuff in the back seat and we got in, " Where's this field at?" " Here I can drive" he shook his head no " I got it, just give me the directions " " It's the one off of the Park, nobody goes there anymore " " See I know where that one is" we shared a small laugh, if someone told me from 6 years ago that I'd be hanging out and falling for Karl Lesley Fink I would never believe you. We shared some small talk before we got there, we parked the car and walked all the way up to just about where the you can see the river " This is a beautiful spot" I smiled looking around and taking in the perfect view " Not as beautiful as you" I heard him sigh softly and I turned around blushing " What?" I asked softly and he froze " Um I said.. It is beautiful" it was funny to watch him freeze up like that but I didn't laugh I just laid the blanket down and laid on it, he sat next to me putting the basket down " Let's go swimming" he suggested " Yeah why not" I got up taking my shoes and socks off, he also stood up taking his shirt, shorts, socks and shoes off " Is this fine?" He asked when he was just in his boxers " Yeah, whatever makes you comfortable" My face was on fire as I looked away towards the river" Race ya!" I yelled, running toward the river " No fair!" He yelled running behind me as I jumped in " Woo!" I yelled " It's cold!!" " Well no duh" he said, climbing in the deep river with me and swam over to me" Smartass" I rolled my eyes, splashing him. He went under the water and I couldn't see him " Karl?" I started looking around " Karl Lesley Fink, this isn't funny!" I yelled and before I could say anything else I felt something grab my legs and pull me underwater " Fink!" I yelled kicking trying to get free after I got my head above water and he let me go coming up himself " That was hilarious" he chuckled " It was not! You had me worried" I shoved him " I'm sorry" he grabbed my hand pulling me towards the edge " Why don't we go eat now" he suggested climbing out " Yeah" he helped me out and we walked back to our spot and he handed me an extra blanket and his shirt " Here you are shivering" " Take my shorts too, you can go change in the truck if you want" I smiled softly and graciously took the clothes and blanket and walked to the truck got dressed and walked back wrapped in the blanket " We are going to share the blanket" I announce when I'm in an ear shot range " I'm fine, I'm not cold" he turned around to face me " Karl don't argue you are not getting us sick, then everybody will think we've been kissing" I sat next to him and wrapped us both in the blanket as we faced the river taking in the beautiful view " Would that really be such a horrible thing " he looked at me and I looked at him we smiled at each other for a brief moment before we pulled each other into a kiss, I should've kissed him years ago when I kept having that dream, it felt like I was dancing on clouds, his lips are so soft and taste like cherry chapstick, only Karl Fink would wear cherry chapstick. I turned my body so I was basically sitting in his lap as we pull the blanket closer to us to stay warm, we were both shivering. I wrap my arms around his neck holding the blanket so it's fully wrapped around our bodies, he brings his arm out and places a hand on my cheek after he runs his fingers through my hair pushing it out of my face " I loved you since we were young Avery Jennings" I smiled at him " I love you too..." we sat in silence for a moment before we went back to sitting next to each other and we started to eat our sandwiches, chips, cheese, grapes and whatever else he packed" This was totally a date wasn't it?" I asked almost laughing" Well yeah basically, but I figured if I would've asked you on a real date you would say no" " Well no matter what this date would've happened " we laughed" Here let's get going, don't wanna get home too late, plus I have a change of clothes in the truck Incase of emergencies, but I guess I could use them today " I shake my head and we get up grabbing the other blanket and basket filled with garbage" How young were you talking when you said that you loved me..?" I asked him as we walked" Well it was 3rd grade, I know we weren't neighbors then but we still went to the same school, I don't think you noticed me though..." "I always had my focus on getting my work done, I didn't really notice anyone" I let out a small laugh " Lets go before your mom goes full panic mode" I lightly punched him in the arm after we got in, he threw a shirt and shorts he had in the car on before buckling and he started to drive and I found a hoodie on the seat so I put it on . When we got to my house we sat in the car "Do you want to come in for dinner again? I mean it obviously won't be done for awhile but you are welcome, I'm sure mom-" I sighed "I'm sorry for rambling" He smiled at me and shook his head planting a kiss on my hand I smiled and leaned in to kiss him I got out and he followed me, his clothes were a little to big but I made do with it " You coming in?" I asked as I stood in the living room with the front door open as he was outside he took a step closer still outside as he wrapped his hands around my waist and reached in kissing me I moved my hands to around his neck standing on my tippy toes as our small sweet kiss only lasted a few seconds before we heard screaming behind us" Mom!" I yelled in shock " Avery Jennings!" She wouldn't yell at me for kissing a boy so she had to think something else and then I realized " Mom it's now what your think!" I realized me wearing his clothes as we kissed made the whole situation worse " We went swimming in the lake and he gave me his clothes because mine were soaked!" She stared at me for a minute then Karl and could tell I wasn't lying " It better have been what happened" " Yes, yes it was" " So you two are a couple now?!" She asked excitedly as I looked at Karl who grabbed my hand " Yeah we are" " Well come sit! You are staying for dinner I insist!" Mom motioned for Karl and I to sit on the couch,I wearing Karls hoodie and shorts. It was so comfortable and I never wanted to change "If it's okay with your mother of course!" Mom added she seemed way too excited about this "She won't mind" Karl smiled softly at my mother and turned his attention to the kitchen door as my Dad walked out " Oh hello Karl" he greeted him softly " Bennet, Avery has a new boyfriend " Mom ran to him and I looked at Karl and mouthed " Sorry" he just chuckled lightly rubbing my hand softly " " Really?" He said and looked at Karl " If you hurt my daughter-" "Dad!" "I won't Mr.James, and if I do you can personally kill me" the two boys shared an understanding laugh before my dad had to go back to his patient "You too go upstairs or something, I'll make dinner. No funny business " Mom! I'm 21, I'm an adult! Stop treating me like a little kid" I got off the couch and walked upstairs Karl following behind me " So what now?" Karl asked walking into my room and I closed the door locking it " I'm getting dressed, I'm keeping the hoodie by the way" he chuckled and sat on the floor on the side of my bed facing away from my closet " What are you doing?" " Letting you get dressed " " Karl I've seen you in your boxers today almost a lot more it's fine if you look i don't care" I said taking the hoodie off but he still sat there on the floor I just smiled softly"Here's your shirt and shorts" I threw them at him and they landed on his head " Thanks" I heard him laugh and I just busted into laughter grabbing myself a T-shirt and shorts putting them on" You're welcome" I smiled walking over to him sitting on his lap " Do you think we rushed into this relationship? I mean we kissed and just said we are dating now?" I asked him " Maybe a little yeah but I'm confident it won't affect our relationship, who knows maybe us rushing will make our relationship stronger " He smiled at me planting a kiss on my forehead
