Blue nearly stumbled as he ran at full speed away from the hoard of ghosts. Or something, he wasn't quite sure what the Doctor said they were. Not that he wasn't listening, just that he was excited to be on a mission off in the expanse of space. He just assumed they were ghosts, since they were pale blue and see-through and looked dead enough.

Turning a corner and ducking into a doorway, Blue crouched next to the wall, trying to catch his breath as quietly as he could. He wasn't sure how much longer he could distract the ghosts, he hoped the Doctor would hurry up with whatever he was doing to stop them.

The ghosts passed the doorway with a slippery sound and Blue waited for a moment before creeping out the door. Stepping into the hall, he immediately slipped on the thin layer of ectoplasm that the ghosts had left behind. He landed on the floor with a yelp, thoroughly coating his pants in the clear slime.

Blue winced and stood up, shaking his hands, trying to fling off the slime, but as he was taking the time to do that, the ghosts had doubled back and were now heading for him again.

"Oh, come on!" He huffed, setting his hands on the wall to steady himself to try to at least slide across the floor.

"Got it!" The Doctor shouted, his voice carrying through the halls. "Bring them over here!"

"COME ON!" Blue yelled, before dropping to his hands and knees. "If I die, it's his fault..." he grumbled before starting to half crawl, half slide his way back to where the Doctor was.

"What're you on the floor for?" he asked as soon as Blue pushed himself into the room, collapsing on the floor with a wet sound.

"Slippery," was all he managed to get out.

The Doctor laughed. "Get up before you get electrocuted."

Blue groaned and pulled himself to his feet, dragging himself over to the Doctor, who stood behind a large gadget that looked rather like a ray gun.

"What does this do again?" Blue asked, gesturing wetly at the gadget.

"This."

The ghosts slid into the room and the Doctor aimed the gun at the floor, pointing it towards the ectoplasm that was slowly spreading across the floor. He shot, a thin beam of white light shooting out and hitting the clear almost-liquid substance. There was a flash of light, the loud cracking of electricity following it.

Right when the light went off, a bony hand reached out of the explosion of electricity and grabbed Blue's arm, shooting bolts of lighting into his arm.

Blue screamed, trying to pull his arm out of the hand's grasp, but before he knew it, the light was gone with another loud crack, and so were the ghosts.

"Shhhit, are you ok?" The Doctor cringed, nearly dropping the gun in his haste to check on Blue.

Blue almost collapsed before using his uninjured hand to push down his hair that was sticking straight up. "Could be better," he laughed painfully.

"Technically that should have killed you, so I'll take that answer as a good thing," the Doctor said, narrowing his eyes at him, though they were filled with more concern than suspicion.

***

Blue carefully held his arm to his chest as he watched the Doctor pace the length of the TARDIS over and over as he thought out loud.
