Loneliness in Togetherness

I believe in love,
even if it's just me.
I believe in happiness,
even if you're toying with me.

But in this suffering,
by this hopeless despair,
my heart cries out for protection,
just to know someone is there.

You chose fun over happiness in life,
spent your time on fleeting delight.
For the first time, you made choice,
did you see it clearly or stay lost in noise?

Over time, loneliness crept in,
I fought for us, for a shared path to win.
I gave you my hand, but you kept spinning,
risking control in the world you were living.

You left something behind in your head,
fun and might trapped you instead.
At decision's point, your mind's confusion,
robbed us of a future, blurred our union.

Blinded by life, you can't see why
fun seems sweet, but love makes you cry.
You play with love, never understanding,
missing its depth, just barely landing.

Maybe I was what you needed,
maybe I was something you loved.
But true love's trust was never seeded,
but I know, in my heart, I truly loved.
