As they made their way through the streets, a sunrise rose in the distance, the colours in the sky mixing with bright reds and oranges, the birds chirping from tree tops and whistling a beautiful melody. Corbin's body weakened beneath the rays peeking through the clouds as the top of the sun beamed across at them, Cole guided them both into an abandoned building, it stood three stories high and the top of the structure had rotted away leaving a giant hole exposing the inside of the floor, Cole pushed open the door, it stopping as chains held it from opening the full way leaving a small space where they wriggled beneath. They were greeted with a check in desk, an old computer sat on top, its keyboard covers in dust and debris.
"Where are we? This isn't the cathedral" Corbin said.
"I know but its daytime and we're weakened under daylight, the cathedral has too many large windows, there's no way of hiding from the sun in there, also I doubt the coven will be awake right now, most vampires tend to sleep in the day. Y'know build up stamina" Cole said.
"Have you rested here before? How do you know it's safe?" Corbin said.
"Don't worry it's safe, this is where I used to sleep before I ran into you, there's some coffins in the back room over here."
The building was an old morgue, it was huge and one of the largest morgues in the country each floor being used for different purposes. The top floor for morticians, the middle floor for cremations and the ground floor for arranging funerals and holding coffin's. The corridors were long and stretched out wide, the doors from the waist up brushed with glass. Cole led them down the corridor and into a room that held six casket's all lined up beside each other. Two a deep mahogany shade, one white and three black, all glossy and soaked in dust. Corbin lifted the lid to a black one and climbed inside as he watched Lilan enter the white one.
"Cole, come in with me" Corbin said lingering the lid of the casket open.
Cole climbed in on top of him and pulled the lid down on top, his body embracing Coles as his hands found their way up under his arms, his hands holding onto his shoulders. Their breathing synchronising as Cole nuzzled his face into Corbin's neck, his lips grazing his skin.
"Are you hungry?" Corbin said.
"Yeah, we haven't eaten in a while."
"Take me, you need to eat, I'll get something when we wake up."
"I can't-"
"Take me Cole it's ok." He interrupted his voice almost a whisper.
Cole sank his teeth into Corbin's throat, the blood oozing out into his mouth, he sighed deeply as he gulped back a mouthful of blood, drinking until his stomach tightened and filled. He opened his mouth unclenching it from around his throat and rested his head beside Corbin's.
"Thank you" Cole whispered.
"That's ok, rest now."
Corbin placed his hand on the back of Cole's head, his body aching in hunger as he desperately tried to rest, his body gave in and relaxed into the silk beneath him, his eyes closing as his body drank up the energy around him, drifting deeper into rest.
