Dirt grew thicker onto his hands lodging itself under Corbin's fingernails, rain thrashed down onto him turning the dirt into a thick sludge that squelched the more he dug, the hunger pained his stomach yet he pressed on digging until the hole was deep enough for him to stand upright inside, I should have done something, I should have saved her, why didn't I save her, she thought she was safe with me! I had one job! His thoughts raced as he placed Cassy's body into the freshly dug hole, he began to scrape dirt on top of her lifeless body as tears streamed down his face.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! My Cassy I can't tell, they blame me! I'll make him pay I swear!" Corbin hollered.

He throat was sore from crying as he sat on his knees gripping his bloody shirt, his cries faded into low whimpers and sniffs, as soon as she was buried beneath the dirt he lay beside the freshly dug grave wanting to be inside it with her. He brought his legs up to his chest and lay silently, his deep depression turning into rage as he gritted his teeth together, his fangs piercing the inside of his lip causing blood to fill his mouth, he drank it feeling the hunger stronger inside him, his stomach twitching in pain. I'll kill him, I'll take away his hope as he did mine! Corbin stood to his feet and walked through the house leaving the back door wide open, he left the house into the street and began to walk down the path, stopping in his tracks he felt hands on his shoulders.

"Sir! Sir I'm sorry I tried to warn you but you wouldn't listen!" A familiar voice said.

Corbin turned around to see the old man from a few doors down staring at him, the man's eyes grew wide as he stumbled backwards, he clutched a cross the lay around his neck.

"My god! What did he do to you? You should have listened now she's dead and you're a monster just like him!" The man said his voice almost breathless as stumbled back a little.

"You heard? You heard her crying out for help and did nothing! You didn't even ring the police?" Corbin said taking the man into his hands, "You let her die! How many others did you listen to crying for help? How many peoples blood are on your hands! You made me a monster! You! I wonder will anyone save you? Will anyone listen to your cries and ring the police or will they let you die as you let Cassy die?"

"No, no please! Help!" The man began thrashing in his grasp.

Corbin raised the man upwards his feet lifting off of the floor, his jaw stretched open almost dislocating, it opened wide like a snake as his fork like tongue filled with tiny groves licked up the man's face, the tongue was thick towards the back getting thinner towards the front. The man cried out and began to struggle hard against him, he brought him in closer and closing his jaw up the size of a humans he sunk his teeth into his neck, the anger inside of him was like a blaze he couldn't put out. He wanted to feel sorry for this man but his mind wouldn't allow him to entertain that thought, the man's throat split open as thick warm blood gushed into his mouth, he sucked hard letting the blood flow down his throat warming it, his eyes flickering as if he was tasting water for the first time. It flowed down his chin and dripped onto the cobblestone below him, the blood seeping into the cracks and flowing down towards the road, his body relaxed as he felt his stomach expanding, filling up creating a full feeling inside of him, as if he had just eating a whole chicken to himself.

His cheeks became rosy and the sclera of his eye returned to its natural white shade as his body beat with the man's heart, he could feel its rhythm like an orchestra booming through his head, thud, thud, thud, pounding and pulsing towards his own heart. It was a feeling he had never experienced before, a feeling he quite enjoyed yet felt guilty for embracing. The rhythm died down to a slow beat until it was so faint it no longer could be felt in his heart, as the blood felt thicker and thicker it started to burn his lips and the man's heart came to a sudden stop. Corbin drew back and dropped the man onto the side of the road, his breathing slowed as he stared down at his lifeless body. What have I done? He's right, I am a monster. His mouth downturned, a pained expression grew across his face as he took off running, his legs carrying him at a speed so fast he was covering miles in only minutes. Is this what I am now? Is this what I have to do to survive? Is there no other way? There must be another way? Why is the world punishing me? Corbin laid himself down amongst the trees in a near by wood, the trees reaching towards each other, the smell of damp leaves filled his nostrils and large crows squawked all around him. He lay staring up at the empty night sky as a sun rise loomed in the distance, he was ready to except his fate and let the day star take him, the wood stood beside the street he had come from, flashing police sirens sounded in the distance and the sun emerged from the tree line shinning down onto his face. Corbin shut his eyes and waited to see what was once his flesh turn to nothing more than ash, instead his body felt weaker and tired, his skin remained in tact, his flesh didn't sizzle and burn as he thought it would, he sat up in a daze of confusion, staring down at his blood stained hands. How is this possible? Aren't vampires supposed to burn in the sun? He stood to his feet and made his way to the tree line, looking into the street officers surrounded Romans house and a body bag lay in the street, he could smell the man's corpse and a strong stench of decay, he fled the scene and made his way to a nearby church, it stood across the other side of the wood and its gothic structure reached up high towards the clouds.
