The next day arrived quicker than Wren would've liked. After their Cullen-filled conversation at lunch, Wren knew she needed a break from Bella and her friends before she went crazy and spent the rest of the school day going to her classes and not speaking to Bella. She liked Bella, honest to god, but Mike and Jessica were too much to handle and they followed her practically everywhere. Wren and Bella could still be friends, she wanted them to be friends, but not with the two of them hovering around.
To make matters worse, as soon as Wren arrived home, her parents began bombarding her with questions. She tried to keep her answers brief, but they soon got upset and, like usual, started arguing with each other. This continued on the entire night, resulting in Wren barely getting any sleep. However, eventually she was able to get some resemblance of sleep and was semi-ready for the die. It seemed the fighting had affected her parents as well as they were both still asleep when she was leaving the house for school. Wren tried not to let her parents issues affect her, but it always did.
Upon arriving at Forks High, she let out a sigh of annoyance as Bella's annoying friends were parked right next to her. Noticing her unsavory mood, Wren plastered a smile onto her face and quickly got out of her car before walking towards Bella's. The brunette girl stood up against her red truck with wired earbuds in her ears and a book in her hand. Strangely, Bella seemed to be looking to the side, watching for someone, and Wren instinctively looked to where she was. Immediately, she was met by the sight of Alice Cullen and Jasper Hale looking at Bella over their shoulders with suspicion. Wren furrowed her eyebrows in confusion before shaking her head, knowing it wasn't any of her business why Bella was watching the Cullens.
"Hey, Bell." Wren greeted as she walked up beside her, making the brunette quickly turn her head towards her.
Bella seemed surprised to see her before quickly recovering as she gave her an awkward smile. "Hey..." She said quietly, pressing her lips into a line awkwardly. "Oh, uh...Charlie said to tell you hi."
Wren let out a soft laugh at her words, appreciating that Bella was at least trying to engage in conversation with her unlike everyone else. "Tell your dad I saw hi as well. I appreciate it, thank you." Unfortunately, it seemed Bella's social battery fried out as she didn't respond to her words and Wren looked around awkwardly before turning back towards Bella. "Well...I should go inside, I have schoolwork I need to do, but I'll see you soon." Without waiting for a response, Wren quickly turned on her heels and began walking towards the school. Hoping things might get easier soon...

As it would turn out, things did not get easier. Apparently, Bella was enamored by Edward Cullen and when he didn't show up for the next week, all she did was ask about him. Frankly, Wren couldn't really understand the obsession with Edward. Emmett, she could understand, he was a big guy and handsome in a jock-type of way. Jasper she could also understand, sure he was...off, but it was in a cute way. However, she didn't get the Edward hype. If you'd asked Wren to pick one Cullen sibling, she probably would've said Jasper in all honesty. Not that she would ever admit that. Still, if Bella wanted to act like Edward was the most beautiful man she'd ever seen, she could do that.
On a positive note, Wren had learned how to tune out Bella's friends. After the first few days, she started feeling bad about not hanging out with her just because of a few people and decided to suck up whatever issues she had. The group was more than happy to have her around, even inviting her to go to the beach, but Wren ultimately decided to decline as she had to study for her AP Exams. Still, she appreciated the gesture. Everything seemed to be going well when tragedy struck. Snow. Wren hated snow, or ice, or anything frozen, something that was ironic considering where she lived. And while she normally would've just skipped school to avoid the snow, it happened right after she was getting out of class and there was no leaving.
By the time lunch hit, Wren was clearly on edge and the entire table seemed to sense it. While everyone else got their lunch, she sat at the table trying to finish up one of the many practice essays she had due after lunch. Soon, the group joined her and were chatting happily about the weather outside, everyone except Bella who stared at something over her shoulder. Wren noticed her friend's distant mood and moved towards her to tell her something. "Does it make me a bad person that I'm thinking about tripping Jessica outside?" She whispered, making Bella laugh under her breath. Wren turned her eyes towards where her friend was looking and was met by the sight of the Cullens, however this time all of them were present. The five siblings were laughing as Emmett shook his hair towards Alice and Rosalie, making the two girls move away from him. The snow seemed to have entirely saturated the three boy's hair and it almost seemed like a scene out of a movie. Wren couldn't help but smile widely as she glanced at Bella, making the girl purse her lips to try and fight a smile as well.
"What are you guys looking at?" Jessica intruded, immediately making both of their smiles fall. Her eyes followed theirs and Wren turned her head back towards the table as she cleared her throat. Wren hoped Jessica would leave something alone for one in her life, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. "Edward Cullen is staring at you," Jessica giggled.
"He doesn't look angry, does he?" Bella asked as her hair was covering for face and Wren tried not to shake her head in disbelief as she refused to look back towards the table of adopted children.
"No, should he be?" Jessica asked, confusion laced in her voice as she furrowed her eyebrows.
Before the conversation could go any further, Wren cleared her throat loudly, gathering everyone's attention. "Jessica, I heard you're in the running for Valedictorian next year. What's that like?" She asked, knowing the girl wouldn't miss the chance to not talk about herself.
Immediately, Jessica began rambling about how incredibly smart and worthy she was of the title, but Wren tuned her out as she tilted her head towards Bella. She gave her a small nod, which was returned, before looking back at the table and pretending to be interested in whatever was being said. Maybe things wouldn't be so bad, after all...

That's the end of this chapter! Was it good? Bad? Meh?
I rewrote this like five different times until I settled on this 😭. But on a good note, next chapter we'll have a Wren and Jasper moment so we can actually have some sort of plot.
Do you have any theories or suggestions?
