*Vampire POV*

I've lived for about a hundred years now and yet these humans never cease to amaze me. I've learned how to blend in well and go unnoticed for the most part, but it does get a little lonely sometimes. So today I decided to go to a cafe, something I would usually never do because I don't want to interact with people.

I couldn't understand why humans were so social, that was until he walked in. He had fiery red hair and green eyes, and this freckles just brought it all together. I was barely listening when I heard him say his name, Matt.

That was a name I had heard a hundred times, but when he said it the name suddenly sounded regal and angelic. I felt a sudden need to be close to him, I needed to get to know this beautiful man.

*Human POV*

I walked into my favorite cafe and saw a person I had never seen in here before. He had jet black hair, blue eyes, and tattoos. He was stunning without a doubt, but for some reason I felt like there was more to him than on the surface.

I couldn't understand why I wanted to go talk to him so badly. I had never wanted to talk to random handsome strangers before, this was all so weird. I had to get out of here before I did something stupid. So, after getting my coffee, I left the cafe.

I was standing outside a shop and looking in the window when I felt strong arms wrap around my waist. Then a low voice whispered in my ear "Tell me Matthew...how come you didn't say hello...?"

*Author's Note*

I know Alaric is being weird rn, he just doesn't understand humans. It's also a whole vampire thing that will be explained later. Please comment, I'm honestly really worried that this book sucks. I might give up if no one likes it. Have a great day!
