復讐は甘い

✧. . # # ❛ YOU'RE SPACED AGAIN.

sasuke stated, looking over at the girl he'd grown up around his entire life. her eyes moved from the ground she was staring at to the twelve year old beside her.

the two sat on a bench outside the uchiha grounds, where sasuke still resided on his own. y/n always refused to step through the compound after the massacre occurred.

she refused to walk through a burial sight.

she did, however, always check up on sasuke when she didn't have any missions to do. she'd take him out to eat before the two sat on the bench or train before parting ways.

sasuke, however, could barely recognize the girl beside him anymore. her long (hair color) hair had been cut short, her eyes that used to hold the happiest spark had died down, and overall she just seemed... different.

the boy beside her always found comfort in her though. specifically because she was just like him.

he could smell the need for revenge that leaked off of her.

"my bad, sasuke." she stated, blankly. he always believed eyes could tell everything about a person. and hers, they were always blood red.

he could barely remember her original eye color.

in fact, he could barely remember the last time she was happy in life. the last time she even smiled.

"would you like to go in now? you have a long day tomorrow. get rest." she spoke. she always spoke in such a harsh tone to everyone, but this sentence was quite soft.

like she actually meant it.

she poked sasuke's forehead with two fingers, like itachi would do, before getting up off the bench to walk off.

like that, they parted ways once more.

once y/n got home she cleaned dishes that had piled up over the last few days before making herself some tea. she had a gut feeling she'd be having company soon, therefore she made two cups.

"you're going to go blind." a voice stated from behind her. she slowly turned around, cup in hand, to see her best friend sitting down.

he wore a black and red cloak, one arm resting inside of it. his head was held down to stare at the small table. she scoffed.

"you're one to talk." she hummed, sitting the cup of tea down in front of the male before sitting down.

itachi chuckled softly under his breath before allowing his eyes to rest — going back to their natural black color.

he stared at the girl who closed her eyes to take a sip of the warm liquid. he analyzed all the differences he could notice — her short hair, her rough expression, everything. one thing that never changed was the fact she continued to wear her gold necklace that he had given her for her birthday years ago.

"what're you planning, n/n?" he finally asked.

"you can really read a person, hm?" she chuckled sadly. "don't worry about it, ita."

"i feel, whatever you plan to do, is quite unnecessary darling." he sighed, taking a sip of his tea before his black eyes met her cold red ones.

she was always such a powerful woman. her clan not only manipulated fire but time as well.

"unnecessary?" she scoffed. "i'll tell you what's unnecessary. you listening to that old shit that's in office and ruining what you had going for you. have you seen your brother lately?!"

he was quite taken aback by the anger in her voice. he wondered what her plan was.

"what do you plan to do about it, y/n?" he asked, his voice becoming colder while his eyes reverted back to the cold red and black she was never used to seeing.

"what do you think?" she scoffed, meeting his glance with one of her own. "i'm going to get your revenge."

the way she spoke made him realize she was quite serious about it. in a way, he was glad to know she didn't hate him. but on the other hand, she was ruining everything she'd built up in the village just to get some silly revenge for something he chose to help in.

"like i said, n/n-" he sighed, getting cut off by the girl.

"i don't care if you think it's unnecessary." she scoffed, getting up from the table and walking towards the hallway. "see yourself out, like you always do."

days passed as y/n hadn't seen itachi again. she sighed softly as she looked up at the sky — sunset. the wind blew past her, making her hair blow softly while she assumed it was time to stop her training.

a thin layer of sweat covered her forehead as she walked back to her home. she walked through the streets of the dark village before she assumed she'd go check up on sasuke before going back.

she had heard that orochimaru had recruited him during the first chunin exam and she had a few questions for the boy.

for the first time, she had walked through the uchiha compound.

she knocked softly on the door, hoping he'd still be awake. he opened the door groggily, looking up at the older girl before letting her in.

"what's up?" sasuke asked, the girl making tea for the both of them as he yawned softly. he knew it had to be important for her to stand on his doorstep.

"orochimaru... can you tell me about his offer to you?" she asked, sitting down cups of tea for the two.

"he's just a weird creepy man that said he'd make me stronger." sasuke shrugged, wasn't much to it.

"do you happen to know where i could find him?" she asked, but it sounded more like a demand. she was telling him to speak.

"some cave." sasuke stated, he wasn't exactly sure himself. he didn't hold much conversation with the snake like man. "why do you ask?"

"just curious is all." she hummed, taking a sip of her tea. she relaxed. her eyes going back to their natural color sasuke hadn't seen since he was a child.

he was glad to know she was relaxed enough around him.

but he had a horrid feeling in his stomach that wouldn't settle as the two sipped tea.
