Chapter made for Y/N x Lois

Y/N stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his tie with a sigh.

"Do we really have to go, Lois?" Y/N asked, glancing at his reflection and then at Lois, who was brushing her hair nearby. "I mean, it's just going to be another disaster."

Lois Lane, always the optimist, gave him a reassuring smile. "Come on, Y/N. It's just dinner. How bad can it be?"

Y/N sighed again, more deeply this time. "You don't know my mom like I do. The food's always terrible, and she's going to go on and on about me not going to college. And it's not just her—my sister will join in too. They'll bash us both for our careers and then circle back to college again. It's like a never-ending cycle of disappointment."

Lois put down her brush and walked over to him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "We've been through worse, right? And besides, we're in this together."

"Yeah, I know," Y/N replied, giving her a small, appreciative smile. "But it's just... Mom's standards have always been so high. And with every passing year, they've become more and more impossible to achieve. It feels like no matter what I do, it's never enough."

Lois nodded, understanding. She'd heard the stories and seen the stress these dinners put on Y/N. "We'll get through it," she said softly. "And hey, maybe we can sneak out early and grab some real food afterward."

Y/N chuckled at that, feeling a little lighter. "Now that's a plan I can get behind."

As they finished getting ready, Y/N's phone buzzed with a message from his sister. He glanced at it and rolled his eyes. "She's reminding me to bring up my 'plans for the future' during dinner. As if I don't already know."

Lois turned to Y/N, curiosity in her eyes. "Do you have any other siblings, Y/N? You've only ever mentioned the one sister who always gives you a hard time."

Y/N nodded, pressing the button for the elevator. "Yeah, I have another sister. She's way more tolerable, honestly. She made the smart decision to move miles away to Central City."

Lois raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Really? How come you never mentioned her before?"

Y/N shrugged, a faint smile playing on his lips. "She's kind of the black sheep of the family, like me, but in a different way. She couldn't stand the constant criticism and impossible standards, so she packed up and left as soon as she could. She's doing her own thing now, and she's a lot happier for it."

Y/N and Lois stepped out of their apartment building into the bright, bustling streets of Metropolis. The city's familiar hum of activity surrounded them as they walked down the sidewalk towards their parked car.

Lois slipped her arm through Y/N's, giving him a comforting squeeze. "So, what's the plan for surviving tonight?" she asked with a playful smile.

Y/N chuckled, shaking his head. "Honestly, I'm just hoping we can get through it without too much drama. If we can do that, it'll be a win."

Lois nodded, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Well, if things get too bad, we can always sneak out and grab some real food afterward. Maybe even work on our next big story."

"Sounds like a plan," Y/N agreed, feeling a bit lighter as they continued their walk. "It's funny, you know. We might still be interns, but we've already managed to make some waves."

"Yeah, like that exposé on 'Grab that Dough,'" Lois said, her voice filled with excitement. "Who knew the big money wheel was rigged? And that they were swapping out the big prizes for electric skillets."

Y/N laughed at the memory. "The producers were so mad when we confronted them. They didn't expect a couple of interns to dig that deep."

"And then there was the piece on the owner of Indigo Park," Lois added, her tone more serious. "Accused of sexual assault, only for us to uncover that the photos were fakes."
