“Mo Xuanyu do you want to come with us to grab a bite to eat, once we finish closing up the place?” Smiling at Qin Su at the offer he agreed. It had been a long and busy night at the bar, which was not unusual. They had both worked a double that night, and neither of them really had a break long enough to get anything. So food would be nice.

“I will pay today since you did last time. I can't have people think I can't pay for a meal.” Came the teasing response. “After eating though, I think I can sleep for a month after tonight.” Mo Xuanyu joked, which was becoming less of a rare thing now.

When he first started working at the bar Seventh Heaven with Qin Su, he was quiet and barely talked when it was not needed. It took her a lot of effort to get him out of his depression. All that she saw him do was drink Emperor's Smile and cry when the bar was closed. After helping him through whatever caused him to be like that. Since Mo Xuanyu never really talked about it he became more animated. Granted there were still times he would go quiet and only respond to her on occasion. Not even acknowledging anyone else. She was happy to see how far he came in the last few weeks.

After having eaten Mo Xuanyu separated from Qin Su and started the walk back to the run down apartment he called home. As he walked, the happy face disappeared, and the broken and sad face of Wei Wuxian came out. He had changed his name and created a new identity after he woke up on the couch of his sworn brother.

Even now he could not bring himself to think of what had happened. At least not without blaming himself for everything. So what did he do? He ran away, letting the world think him dead since he wished he had not survived. Since then he could not cause problems for everyone any more. Now only a few people knew he was alive and he planned to keep it that way.

How could he still live when Madam Yu and Uncle Jiang died. While his shi…. Jiang Yanli was in a coma. It was all his fault he couldn't stop it, but like always he was too late. What happened was all over the news. How could it not be when something happened to one of the big cultivation families?

So because he could not face anyone, let alone Jiang Cheng, he ran. He became Mo Xuanyu and stopped being Wei Wuxian to the world.

… … … … …

Walking into his run down apartment Wei Wuxian was exhausted physically and mentally. He was ready to sleep. He dropped his keys on the table as he went to his room to grab a change of clothes and go take a shower. As he was taking his shirt off he saw the scars that covered his back left by that awful day. Along with the red lotus tattoo on his side. He turned away from the mirror.

As he collapsed onto his bed his phone started to ring. Knowing that only a small handful of people even bothered to call him. Wei Wuxian rolled over and grabbed it from where it had fallen. “Hello, can you let a man sleep?”

“L-Long night I ta-take it.” Came the soft response. “I wa-was wanting to s-see if you could wa-watch A'Yuan today.”

“A'Ning of course I can! I love my little radish! Give me a few minutes and I will run down to your place.”

Getting dressed was a completely different affair as Mo Xuanyu. Gone were the modern day hanfu. Gone were the ceremonial robes. The night hunting robes that distinguished cultivators from the general public. Now he only wore T-shirts and distressed jeans with combat boots or high tops. He needed to blend in, after all.
