Confrontation

Putting on my robes and flats I travel out of the dorms into the common room. Theodore is sitting there looking down in his lap. Coming closer, I open my mouth about to say something he spots me and brings his finger quickly to his lips. Closing my open jaw, I inch closer and see Kaia, soundlessly sleeping with her head in his lap.

I form a heart with my hands and pump outwards a few times to draw a reaction. His cheeks turn a very slight pink and he shakes his head in denial. I shrug and mouth "couple goals."

He chuckles silently then waves his hand in dismissal, shooing me off. With a final smirk, I happily continue my way out of the dormitories and up the staircase leading out of the dungeons.

In minutes I'm parading into the great hall, seeking a certain person. Finding the culprit I seek, he's sitting nonchalantly on a bench in his red and black robes, flirting with a redhead across from him.

With a smirk and a wave of my wand, silently I alter the course of his conversation. Perking up my ears I sit an aisle away from him, trying my best to hear his new and improved voice.

As I lean in to hear better, hands grab my shoulders and a loud voice yells, "boo!" Jolting in my seat, I turn to face a laughing Vance. While he is doubling over, I connect my palm with the back of his head, still trying to slow my heart beat.

"You arse! Don't distract me, I'm busy!"

"Pranking your brother without me Briar?" The blonde tuts in disapproval. "I'm genuinely wounded you aren't including your favorite partner in crime."

"It's-"

"Rayne Briar Beckett!" Comes a raging male voice from a few feet away. Well anyways, perhaps it would be raging but I couldn't tell because of the high pitched, helium sounding shreik.

Taking my cue to leave, I rush out, swinging my legs over the bench and jogging quickly out the doors. I hear Vance loudly chuckle from where I left him and overtop of it I hear thudding sounds trailing my own steps. My feet push quickly towards the staircase and I hurry up a few steps before a hand yanks me backwards by my robes.

Like a domino, I tumble back, crashing into my mindless older sibling and we hurl onto the floor.

Groaning and holding our aching limbs where the most impact hit, we were quite a sight for Professor McGonagall, who approached us at that terrible moment.

"Sibling rivalry and antics do not excuse the rules of etiquette in the school Mr. and Ms. Beckett." A matter-of-fact voice comes from her mouth, condescending and scolding such as a mother to her troublesome children.

Jeremy and I made eye contact before getting up, and slowly turning around. With a sigh I remove the spell from his voice.

"Apologies Professor, we were just having a bit of fun, it won't happen again." Jeremiah assures her, using his charming grin of his to his advantage.

"Be sure that it won't." She turns dramatically, robes slightly flying outwards, and returning back inside the Great Hall.

After a moment of silence my brother and I burst out laughing, holding our bruised ribcages.

Minutes later after finally coming to a stop after a good, long uncontrollable laugh, Jeremy salutes me. "Good prank sis but watch your back, I'll get you back for it."

I salute him with a cocky grin, "wouldn't have it any other way hermano. Good luck to you." We laugh once more before he goes back in the doors to his friends.

Then it came to me I completely forgot to ask him the question I needed to. "Damn it."

"A lady shouldn't swear." Lorenzo comes up from behind me and joins my pity fest.

"Well then I ain't a lady now am I, I have a sailor's mouth."

His eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "what's that supposed to mean?"

"I-" I sigh, "nevermind."

"It means her pretty little mouth can't stay shut for it's own good." An infuriating voice comes from behind us. What's with all these people having such quiet feet?

"First off where the hell did the two of you appear from?" My lips turn down as my body turns. Placing my hands on my hips in annoyance I face the smirking devil. When I get no response I continue, "I thought you of all people would like my mouth wide open."

Lorenzo chokes on air, looking ghastly between me and Mattheo who's smirk wiped completely from his features.

Then, Pansy comes barrelling down the stairs. "Rayne! Briar! Whichever name you go by right now! I have to tell you something! Come here!" The girl shouts at the top of her lungs while running down the steps. Feeling the icy glare of Riddle on my back, I turn and walk towards her, waiting for her to tell me the drama that she suddenly remembered or whatever else she needs me to listen to. I'll spend that time probably half listening half plotting my next move on the next victim I chose.
