Chapter 3 - Farewell world, hello apocalypse. [2]
+
I froze upon my tracks as the realization that my favorite novel was becoming reality, dawned upon me under suspicious conditions.
Everything that happened to how my world vanished, was similar yet widely different from how Dokja's world merged with "Ways of Survival" In the novel.
For example, the anonymous messenger was probably not the author of the novel, unlike Dokja.
Though this situation baffled me for quite a bit, I tried my best to maintain my cool.
Why?
Why would something like this happen to me?
I sat down in my seat, patiently waiting for the first scenario to come as I held the box in my hand; so as to confirm if my reality had really 'overlapped' with fiction.
Or perhaps, replaced would be a better way of phrasing it?
And just as I suspected, fiction really did appear before my eyes.
「 With two small horns and wearing a small straw mat, the strange fluffy creature was floating in the air.」
I widened my eyes, as I heard the contents of the novel read out right in front of my eyes; a sight which I'd have never thought I had a chance of witnessing.
「It was too strange to call it a fairy, too evil to call it an angel, and to tranquil to call it a demon.
Thus, it was called a 'dokkaebi.' 」
And of course, I already knew the first thing it was going to say.
「&아#@!&아#@!」
[&아#@!&아#@!...]
Fiction became my reality, as the weird sounds of the Dokkaebi echoed in the empty subway room as my eyes quickly flickered towards the door of car 3907, which opened widely.
In the original novel that I had read, the subway would have been filled with questions and the chattering of fellow passengers, if only I wasn't alone.
And so, I waited patiently for the floating creature in front of me to quickly finish whatever glitch it was experiencing, before hearing the correct pronounciation of Korean.
[Ah. Ah. Does this sound good? I had a hard time because the Korean patch didn't work- wait why are you the only one here??]
The Dokkaebi stopped it's sentence midway to glance at me in a confused manner.
Normally, there would have been some questioning answers headed the Dokkaebi's way or the crowd would throw their opinions at him, and the Dokkaebi would be able to keep up a marvelous performance of killing the humans that dared defy of his existence.
Yet how would that be possible? If the train was empty in the first place?
I looked up at the Dokkaebi, full of admiration and amazement.
Sure, I might have gotten transported to an apocalyptic world, but all that I could think about at that moment was the persuasive pressure exerted by the fluffy creature with just his presence alone.
It made me realize.
Ah.
This is real.
This cute looking CG character in front of me, was indeed the dokkaebi, Bihyung from my favorite novel Omniscient reader's Viewpoint.
And it was right in front of me as it looked at me, not expecting to encounter such a situation.
[What the..This one is not fun at all.]
The being in front of me cupped his chin as his eyes travelled around the subway room, yet no one was to be found.
No one asked him frivolous questions which he found to be annoying.
But he still felt uneasy with how much peace there was, compared to the other compartments.
[Well aren't you lucky.. Well. There's no harm in explaining-]
"I know."
The dokkaebi stared down at me with piercing eyes that gave a new meaning to 'red eyes'.
My eyes were often mistaken as red, but now I realised that in the face of such a bloodthirsty and lustrous red, my eyes fell short.
Dull and boring.
Thats what they were.
[.. What?]
"You don't have to explain. Just hurry up and get the apocalypse with."
I said, remaining in my seat, waiting for the dokkaebi to open his stream.
Though normally at times like this, I would probably listen to the contents which I've already known over and over again, just because my favorite novel became a reality.
But I cared about something more than that.
And that was, meeting Kim Dokja.
That man. I wanted to meet him more than anything else right now. To make me certain I did make it to "Omniscient reader's viewpoint".
And besides, I already knew what the dokkaebi would say.
Our old world is no more. Now, we are to fight to survive in this once leisure world through scenarios.
[Fine. Do what you want, you're a hopeless case anyway.]
Bihyung clicked his tongue, seemingly under the impression that i was alone in this compartment.
Well. Dokkaebis quite aren't omniscient after all.
And to top it off, he's probably a low-grade dokkaebi right now.
The dokkaebi's horns rose as if they were antennas, and its body floated to the ceiling of the train.
「What the hell will happen now?」
I was the only one. The only one who knew the future, which even Dokja of the present didn't know.
A moment later, a message rang out.
[#BI-7623 channel is open.]
[The constellations have entered.]
A small window emerged in front of me, identical to the one I saw in the novel.
Perhaps I've read the novel too many times, to the point I've already memorised the contents of the first scenario.
But it was still euphoric, as I saw the real thing in front of me.
Not texts, not images.
The real thing.
[The main scenario has arrived!]
[Main scenario #1-Proof of Value]

The dokkaebi smiled faintly as it became transparent and disappeared to the next space.
[Then. Good luck, not that you'll survive anyway.]
