I've had Cheryl for about three months now and she seems to be settling in pretty well I should say.
She's very clingy and i'm still trying to get used to it. Sometimes I can't really do anything because she screams if I put her down or just simply leave her in the room by herself for a few moments.
Overall she's a really good kid and is such a gentle and soft soul. Poor girl didn't deserve the parents she had.
I'm glad I was able to remove her from that.
BUT
There's just one thing...
She's been real younger than I've seen so far. Like to the point where she won't eat any solids and will only drink milk.
I'm very concerned for her health.
I made her a doctors appointment for next week, so hopefully they can give me some options here to help her.
Oh and another thing...
She's been real clingy around my breast area and of course I did my research on that and saw that the further into headspace she goes, eventually she'll want to feed from me and in this case I don't have any milk to give her.
She cried her poor little eyes out the other night because of it and I felt so bad.
Since then she's been trying here and there to pull my shirts down at any chance she gets.
As far as I know, I can't produce milk unless I have a baby.... which I can't.
I'll probably make a doctors appointment for her and myself.
As of right now she's watching trolls. She seems to like those movies a lot. Including shrek.
I'm in the kitchen trying to figure out what I'm going to make for lunch.
I got lucky, Cheryl likes to eat just about anything and will even sometimes eat seconds.
I came out of my thoughts when Cheryl came crawling in the kitchen and pulled at my pants leg.
"Hi sweetie, what's wrong?" I asked
"Cherrys tired" she said sucking her thumb.
"Sweetie we don't suck on our yucky fingers. Where's paci?"
She just shrugged with a whine.
I sighed going to look for her pacifier. It seems like she's always hiding it or she actually loses it.
I have to find it or she absolutely will not sleep tonight. I learned that the hard way a few weeks ago.
After forever of looking for her pacifier, I finally found it inside the couch and cleaned it. I then made her a bottle of warm milk.
I carried her upstairs and sat in the rocking chair letting her drink her bottle.
"Cher you need to slow down or you will choke and startle yourself"
She eventually slowed down and her eyes started to droop. She finished her milk and after burping her, she took her pacifier popping it in her mouth.
After rocking her for a little longer she was knocked out cold and I laid her down in her crib.
As you guys may know, Cheryl does not play when it comes to her naps. She'll either decide on sleeping in my bed or in her crib.
Mostly her crib though because she likes listening to rain sounds. It also helps her sleep better I've noticed.
While Cheryl napped, I went downstairs and decided to clean the house a bit.
Of course I found gold fish under the couch and inside it. That's what I get for not letting her eat in her high chair.
I then cleaned her play area and vacuum her mat and rug. I also found one of her pacifiers that I swear for the life of me I couldn't find.
Once all done with that, I headed to the kitchen to unload and load the dishwasher. I've already wiped down everything and even swept and mopped.
By the time I was finished with all of that, I still had some time to relax before Cheryl wakes up.
I kind of want to order Cheryl some more children's books. She absolutely loves when I read and sing to her.
While online looking at books, I heard a soft knock on the front door and went to go check it out.
I looked on the camera and it was Betty?
"What is she doing here?" I thought to myself before opening the door.
"Hi.. Betty?" I greeted.
"Hi, Im sorry I showed up unannounced but my parents told me that you adopted Cheryl" she said truthfully.
"Ugh.. ok?" I said with a raised eyebrow.
"She's my cousin...sorry" she replied.
"Ah I see. How come you never told me about her?" I asked as we walking to the couch.
"Well I never got to meet her, so I figured there wasn't anything to tell. All I knew was that she's my cousin" she answered.
"That sucks. She's such a sweet little girl" I said in aw.
"I'm sure of it, which is likely why her parents didn't want her. Apparently she was an inconvenience for them" Betty said.
"Just from what I witnessed, I'm glad I was the one to be there for her and take over as her permanent caregiver/Mom" I said with a warm smile.
"I will tell you that she's a little" I added.
"Yes I know" Betty said happily.
"You're okay with that huh?" I say with a small smile.
"Yes, actually. I'm one myself but not full time, I have to be triggered which isn't very often" Betty said truthfully.
"WHAT? Why haven't you told me, I would've took care of you!" I say kind of offended.
"Well it's because Veronica takes care of me" she said with a small blush.
"Yes that's right. B and V forever. I'm glad you guys are still close" I said getting up.
"Would you like a snack or anything?" I asked sweetly.
"Sure" she responded softly.
We headed to the kitchen and I decided to make a charcuterie board because why not.
About a few moments later, I heard Cheryl call for me and went to go grab her.
"Hi sweety, how was your nap?" I asked and she just shrugged laying her head on my shoulder.
"There's someone here to meet you" I added and she looked up at me.
"Who?" she asked with her small voice.
"Her name is Betty. Does she sound familiar to you?" I asked curiously.
"BB" was all she said and I just continued down the stairs and Cheryl locked eyes with her.
"BB!!" Cheryl squealed.
"So she knows you but you don't know her?" I said was a small laugh.
"I guess her parent did tell her about me" Betty said with a shy shrug.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Cheryl" Betty said happily.
It was very heartwarming getting to witness something so beautiful.
I'm also very happy that Cheryl at least has a family member that actually cares for her. I mean Betty really made the effort to come meet Cheryl after always being told her entire life that she wasn't allowed.
I smiled saying "come on girls, let's go have a snack" and Betty nodded walking in front of me into the kitchen with Cheryl still in her arms.
