It was a stormy night in Essempi, the view of the bright neon signs from Tommy's window was blurred by the raindrops against the glass. There was a faint glow coming from his room, a nearly unnoticeable red tint. There Tommy stood, horns and tail aglow. A strange, dangerous look was in his eyes, a look that had held bloodlust inside. Although there was really nothing wrong quite yet, a feeling of uneasiness and tension was spread out through the apartment building. "Yes, this is the night that I die by the hand of someone I've wronged." Some people thought. In one of the hallways of the 7th floor, the faint thud of boots could be heard, familiar to some, unrecognizable to others. Along with it came a greater feeling of discomfort, creating a chill that ran down the spines of many. The same feeling spread through the floors of the building, rising up to the 11th floor. The same sound of footsteps could be heard going through the hallway, stopping at someone's door. Harsh breathing could be heard from the figure standing there. Tommy tried to push open the door with one hand, but there was seemingly something or someone trying to keep it closed. He tried again with both hands, reigning successful. He forces open the door, the person on the other side audibly gasping. Quiet breathing could be heard from the room, if you had a sharp sense of hearing like that of Tommy. He made his way through the room, sharp ears hearing every little sound, every subtle rustle, every sharp inhale when he moved something over. And the gasp when Tommy came very close to where the person was hiding. The once soft red glow was now impossible not to notice, illuminating the dark space with a blood red light, reaching every crevice. Tommy bent over, looking under the raised bedframe, to see the person he was looking for. Wilbur Soot. The man who he once called "brother." The man who manipulated him, who said that he was helping him. He looked his "brother" dead in the eyes. It had been almost a year since he realized the truth. Since he began to build his own life. Since he became this way. A demon. In this world, everybody has something else inside of them. Only a select few can let it out. Tommy is one of those few. So when he first let it out, he instantly realized: Wilbur knew he could. And he was trying to keep Tommy from realizing that. Everything suddenly clicked. And that click led them here: Wilbur cowering at his feet, screaming, begging Tommy not to kill him. Tommy was not listening, however. He grabbed the brunette by his neck, lifting him off the ground. He dug his nails into Wilbur's neck, blood dripping down his hands. soon, he was grabbing the man's esophagus, and ripping it out of his already limp body. He dropped the corpse, and walked off. As he exited the apartment, he was greeted with police at either end of the hallway. Not a problem, he thought. I'll kill them just the same. And so he did. The hallway was a blood-splattered mess by the time he was done, severed limbs scattered across the floor, and a decapitated head hanging from a light fixture. The elevator was much worse. When he stepped out, anybody passing by would see walls that should be an off white tile stained red. More officers were waiting for him in the lobby, but he killed them as well, leaving the receptionist traumatized, blood splattered across her face. Tommy exited the building, any remaining police running away in terror. He walked up to one of the police cars that had not left the scene, and tapped on the front driver's side window. The officer inside looked at Tommy in terror. The blood-covered man signaled for the terrified officer to roll down his window, which he did reluctantly.
"Look, I'm not gonna kill you unless you get in my way. You're fine at the moment." he said.
"Why should I believe that? Look around you, tell me what you see." the officer replied.
"I see smart people running away. Smart, because they know if they don't run, they'll get in my way."
"... Fair. What do you want from me?"
"I want you to get out of this car so I can get to my next target."
*sigh* "I presume that if I stay in this car I'm gonna die."
