This was going to work...this HAD to work!

Commander Tartar was just an AI in a robotic body. Surely, it could have its code switched and changed or reset? ****** wanted to avoid resetting Tartar though. Maybe it could be redeemed like Smollusk, Octavio, or even Mr. Grizz were? Smollusk was code just like Tartar and he got redeemed. Then again, maybe since Tartar was clearly still around, maybe it had changed its mind about inkfish kind? Maybe now was the time for it to share its knowledge with the new world.

No. Looking at Tartar's code revealed he had 2 objectives in mind: Find the Professor's Journal and Fire the NILS Statue. Finding his journal must've been what Tartar was doing wandering around Inkopolis, scaring everyone.

****** had managed to grab the strange android directly from the street because of them wandering about late at night. ****** was careful in knocking out Tartar, having to wait until they sprayed sanitized ink from their phone and horrifically transformed into a tinier, octopus form just like Inklings and Octolings could before ****** could knock them out. Then, ****** had to actually get Tartar's limp body back to the house that her and Pearl shared and hope they didn't stir awake just for a chance at changing Tartar's mind; unfortunately by now, it would have to be by force.

The code for Tartar was rigid and had a habit of refusing to change during the midnight hours ****** spent working on them. It almost seemed that Tartar was aware that someone was trying to change it. Must've picked up on it the second ****** plugged it in. Changing its code wasn't working. Should ****** really do this?

Her hand hovered over the keyboard as ****** gave Tartar another glance. The old android had so much information about the world before inkfish kind and all about humanity as a whole. However, that's the problem, Tartar had loads of information and yet, he had deemed all of the inkfish kind to be unworthy of humanity's knowledge and decided to try to wipe them off the face of the earth without a chance!

"Tartar, please, if you can somehow hear me...could you just cooperate, please? I don't want to do this. If anything, I want you to stay and teach inkfish kind everything. Maybe if we knew, we could be less disappointing in your eyes? I'm not like Pinn, Agent 8 in your eyes. I'm not like the rest of NSS, I want peace...please," Tartar answered with silence.

Finally, ****** sighed and pressed the keys, uttering, "I'm sorry..."

Judging by how Tartar's body jerked up suddenly and their crank began to spin, they could feel themself being deleted. ****** flinched back, yanking her hands away from the keyboard.

Words flashed on the computer screen besides ******. Pleads for help. Cries for mercy.

Wait! WAIT! STOP- Please!

Stop the reset!

Everest-

My daughter-!

She'll be distraught!

I can't leave her alone!

Everything I know.

Humanity's messenger

GONE!

All the lights flickered as Tartar's body jerked about and sputtered on the table ****** set it on. Purple strikes of lighting shot from the android, causing ****** to duck and cover her head. She curled up with her back to the ceiling to avoid the sparks. Sanitized ink poured from every seam on Tartar's body.

I wasn't ready yet.

You'll pay...!

YOU'LL PAY, ******!!!

You monsters will all pay if I remember myself!

I'll make sure of it!

...Intimidation isn't the right thing to do here...
