hello and welcome to another update of cloud awards! this chapter is more for the judges, but, i am publishing it here so that participants know how their work's going to get judged.

here's the judging rubrics

1. Name of Participant:

this refers to the username of the participant

2. Book Title:

this refers to the title of the book

3. Blurb (10):

this refers to the blurb aka the information about the book that the author has written for their work. read it and give it a score out of 10, add comments if required, but not necessary.

4. Interest (10)

this refers to the interest of the work in and of itself. does it keep you engaged and rooting for the characters or does it feel too dry? read it and give it a score out of 10, add comments if required, but not necessary.

5. Grammar (10)

this refers to the grammar/language of the work. of course, no one's expected to have herculean or Shakespeare level of writing, but- overall, are there grammatical errors? and even if there are, maybe sentence formation related or otherwise, does it hinder the work flow? read it and give it a score out of 10, add comments if required, but not necessary.

6. Does it fit the genre? (Yes/No)

this refers to the book's overall theme, a book marked as romance should fit into the genre of romance, if its more of a crime/thriller, it'd be a different genre altogether, so judges, read on and just answer yes or no for if it fits the genre, no scores or reviews necessary for this.

7. Plot Development (20)

this refers to the plot in and of itself. does it move forward? does it feel too stagnant? what are your impressions on the plot- is it well executed or it has one way too many plot holes (not the intentional ones that are explained later though), read it and give it a score out of 10, add comments if required, but not necessary.

8. Character Development (15):

this refers to the characters. are they stuck? or do they grow as the story progresses? are they well executed? also take notes for characters using a harmful bias - like, getting away with their violence or action due to say, mental disorders. also see how a character fits in well with other characters, do they blend well? read it and give it a score out of 10, add comments if required, but not necessary.

9. Character Chemistry (15):

this refers to the characters blending together, which, was already slightly explored in the character development, do the character's actions do justice to their nature and are they overall developed well? read it and give it a score out of 10, add comments if required, but not necessary.

10. Overall Impression (10)

this refers to the overall impression of the work - if you had to rate this book out of 10, what would you give it a score?

11. Total (90):

this refers to the total score. you did the scoring, add it up and see how much it adds up to and how much is it out of 90. please don't be too lenient or too strict during the judging process, i believe you'd be able to strike the chord between the two :)

12. Review:

last but not the least, review. the number of chapters you read is entirely up to you, but, you should be able to give a clear review or at the least be able to conclude if its a good book.

that's all for the judging rubrics, folks! comment your questions if you have them, here ➸

cheers,
thetranquilityteam
