Sid leaned against Trisha's desk, his gaze fixed on her. "So... no one going to talk about what happened?" he asked.
Trisha looked up, her expression a mix of curiosity and annoyance. Sid sighed in irritation. "Come on, you too! I don't know why you all are acting like nothing happened," he said.
Trisha returned her attention to her work, dismissing him with a wave. "Abhinandan is here, isn't he? Don't you have an ass to kiss?"
The comment didn't faze Sid; he brushed it off with ease."I never saw Karishma taking so many personal days. Surely, something is up. Do you think she is in talks with The Vice? Is she going to leave Bridging the Borders?"
"Oh, come on...Why are you always so paranoid all the time. She is working from home because of her health issues. She will join the office when she feels better."
"And when would that be? " Sid asked, a sarcastic smile playing on his lips.
"Probably next week," Trisha replied, forcing a smile. But as she noticed Sid's smile fading, she followed his gaze to the office entrance and heard him murmur, "Or maybe today."
Trisha turned and caught sight of Karishma heading straight to Abhinandan's office. Her bag was slung over one shoulder, and her sunglasses were firmly in place. Her every step echoed through the hallways, commanding attention. The aura she exuded was unlike anything anyone had seen before—a dead-killer professional facade that made it seem as if the dramatic exit two days ago had never happened. She moved with the grace and authority of someone who owned the place. The transformation was astounding. Karishma's face was set in a determined, no-nonsense expression, and her presence was electrifying. Watching her approach, Sid felt his throat dry, and Trisha could only stare in astonishment.
As Karishma disappeared, Trisha glanced at Sid, who seemed utterly captivated. Without realizing it, he muttered under his breath, "She is damn hot."
Trisha slapped his arm to snap him out of his trance. "Ouch! What was that for?" Sid protested.
"You were drooling over the person you despise," Trisha retorted.
Sid rubbed his arm, a sheepish grin forming on his face. "Yeah, I have a thing for authority. I can't help it. And that energy she brought with her... Oh ho! Sara is one lucky woman."
"You are disgusting...just Go away, " Trisha wrinkled her nose.
Sid laughed, unfazed by her reaction. "Wao! So serious," he said, leaving Trisha shaking her head in exasperation.
**********************
This is a new day for Karishma. She had wasted enough of her time with all the drama.
"It's just Haseena. So, you have dealt with her before, and you can deal with her now," she told herself. The project is her baby, and she doesn't want to jeopardize it. Yes, the arrival was unexpected. Never in a million years would she have thought of facing Haseena, and that too in India. It caught her off-guard.
"There is more to life than crying over some prick," she said.
She got up early and went to the gym. The trainer was happy to finally see her after a week. Her workouts were a vital source of energy, a powerful and positive way to launch into the day. After a refreshing shower and changing clothes, she emerged from the gym, her hair tied in a neat bun, clad in a sharp black blazer over a crisp white blouse. She strode confidently into the office with a renewed sense of purpose, making a beeline for Abhinandan's door. He must be confused regarding the whole situation. It seems wise to Karishma to give him clarity regarding a few things.
