"I... I have to leave." Remis whispered, his shoulders quaking as he bit his lip in frustration. "...please, let me go."

Reask felt his heart drop into his stomach. His throat tightened and his muscles tensed as he felt the shivering of the youth in his arms. I...

I made a mistake. I shouldn't have... a single thought echoed over and over until no other reasoning could move through his mind.

Remis' jaw tensed further as Reask's hold on him grew ever the more tight. "Please, let me go-" Remis repeated, but his sentence was cut off by the feeling of the fabric of his clothes on his shoulder growing damp. The sound of tears falling onto a soft surface shook his heart as he strained his vision to see the red-haired knight.

Reask's eyes were a pale red. His expression was tangled and lost as he stared blankly at Remis' face with a blurry gaze. "It's my fault..."

He sniffled, his hands balling into tight fists, clenching Remis' clothes with all his might, yet gingerly, afraid, shallow so it doesn't break the youth's skin. He exerted so much force that the his fists started shaking, his entire body quaking. He didn't even seem to notice it, either, his eyes filled with tears so he couldn't see the youth's expression, which made him even more afraid.

"I thought wrong..." he said, his voice strained and threatening to break. "I thought that you might have also..." he gulped and cut himself off, leaving the room in silence again.

Remis felt a pang in his heart. The desire to leave, to find some way to fix the already broken plot, was pushed into the dark as he stared at the heart-breaking display. He had always felt some sort of connection with Reask. Since the time they went into the fields behind the palace. Reask was adorable when he showed him some magic, and the knight genuinely tried to teach him how to hold a sword. It was a fun, unadulterated time, and in the fields, where it was quiet, he enjoyed the company of someone who hadn't touched the aristocratic world. He quickly felt a soft spot for the knight and enjoyed his cute, awkward demeanor and displays in contrast to his rather large figure.

He grabbed Reask's clenched fists, patting them. "Let go," Remis said. Reask shook and he suppressed a sniffle, letting go of the fabric and leaving wrinkles in the clothes.

Remis sighed. Reask looked at him like he was going to leave. He turned around, pushing the redhead's face into his chest and patting his soft hair gruffly. "It's alright..." Remis comforted, feeling the fabric on his chest wetten too. As he gently comforted a person who just confessed to him, he felt that helpless, foreboding feeling worsen in his chest.

So just what am I supposed to do now?

When Remis tried to retreat back into his bedroom, Reask refused, his arms grabbing Remis tightly by the waist. He ended up following Remis back into bed, his eyes still red and puffy from crying, and hugged Remis to sleep. Even while he was in deep slumber he still held onto Remis' waist in a death grip, occasionally tightening and occasionally loosening as he dreamed. His head was buried in Remis's shoulder and Remis somehow found his legs entwined with Reask's body.

His chest felt more and more stuffy the longer he stayed in that position. Staring up into the bed's canopy blankly, his mind jumped from one thought to another, but always circling back to the growing worry about the plotline.

His mind drifted into the past as he recalled his first meeting with the prince. At that time, he was excited, Lucius was his favorite capture target in the novel, and his cold demeanor and sweet tooth was right on point. He felt a connection. Yet, as they grew closer, he felt like there was some sort of growing obsession that the prince was developing. Actually, it wasn't just the prince he felt that strange attitude from: it was also from Cyrus and Theodore, and now from Sylvien.

Maybe... is it possible... that they all feel the same way towards me...? Remis thought haltingly before almost barking out a sarcastic laugh. How is that possible? I must be delusional.

He spiraled further and further into a self-deprecating, stressful whirlpool of paranoia. It continued until the sun rose and he finally fell into a deep sleep.

----

Five loud knocks on the door sounded yet again, and Remis snapped out of his sleep, looking around alarmingly. Trying to get his bearings, he jumped out of bed, but the arms around him grew tighter, pulling him back into the sheets. Remis stifled a yelp and looked down, only to find a redhead still snuggled closely, pushing his nose further into Remis' chest. The soft breathing tickled his skin as he struggled to worm his way out of the rather tight hold.

If he woke up, it would only get worse. Remis sighed in defeat. Another four knocks came, this time bangs, and Remis felt his heart fall out of his chest when they suddenly sounded. With an aggravated grunt, he somehow managed to slip under the hold, quickly pivoting off the bed and marching towards the door. His hair was still in disarray, his loose sleeping clothes slipping down as he continued walking. He mumbled an insignificant curse and opened the door reluctantly.

"Who-" He mumbled gruffly. He was mid-yawn when a familiar chest in front of him stopped him. He slowly closed his mouth and gulped, looking up. Lucius' face was expressionless, which was something Remis was not used to. He was about to slam the door and jump out the window, flying away, but he couldn't. Lucius' hand, which seemed to just rest on the door, seemed to have some sort of iron grip, preventing it from budging.

"First, you're going to tell me what exactly you saw when your roommate was naked." Lucius' eyes grew colder. Remis laughed awkwardly, but before he was going to try and slip past the prince, he found his arm firmly grasped by a pale hand. "Then, you're going to tell me why you've been avoiding me."

----

The black-haired youth found himself dragged down the hallway. He laughed awkwardly, using his might to push back, but Lucius snidely remarked that if he dragged his feet any longer he would simply carry him the rest of the way.

They arrived at a room. Lucius pushed him onto a chair. Remis' back thumped onto the soft lavish cushioning. Lucius leaned forward, his eyes containing a trace of pain, but as he approached, he frowned. "Why do you have a different smell..." Lucius mumbled.

Remis felt his heart drop to the floor. You're kidding me, h-how the hell did he smell that? He struggled to keep his composure. Is he a dog? Oh, my god...

Scenarios of the golden-haired tsundere finding out about it grew heavier in his mind. After running away from him for so long, he allowed the peasant knight to crawl into his bed? What would happen to him if he found out...

"Wh-what do you mean...?" Remis muttered, averting his gaze. He didn't understand why the usually docile and cute tsundere was acting so aggressively today. Hasn't he been through enough in the past few days? Sleeping with a knight (not in that way), confessed to (albeit while Lucius thought he was asleep), forced to run (because he was too embarrassed to see Lucius' face), and dragged around like a ragdoll.

The only good thing was that Lucius didn't know he heard him that day. The only good thing was that Lucius still somehow hadn't found out that he wasn't sleeping after all.

Remis held onto that shred of information like a lifeline. Yes, as long as he doesn't know. Nothing will go wrong, as long as he doesn't know.
