"and that's how i basically aced the project" he laughed and looked over at me. "how did you do?"
"i'm sorry but what project?" i asked him and he widened his eyes in shock and sat up.
"please don't tell me you forgot about the project? it was worth 50% of our final grade"
"it's not that i just.." i began but got interrupted by the girl in front of me, who turned around with annoyance written all over her face.
"dude sunghoon leave the poor girl alone" she began and furrowed her eyebrows at him. "you've been talking nonstop for the past five minutes without BREATHING"
"not you talking right after kicking, pinching and pushing jake just so he can't answer the prof" sunghoon scoffed. "talk about being annoying"
"the academic victory will be mine" she said and turned around again, while the guy next to her looked back at us.
"she's a monster sunghoon. save me from her"
"literally no one pressured you into sitting next to her jake" sunghoon said and pointed at me. "besides my seatmate needs my help so no way in hell i'm going to sit next to jian voluntarily"
"oh why do you need his help?" jake asked and the girl, whose name is jian apparently, turned back around again.
"whatever you do, don't really ask sunghoon for help. he barely even passes the exams"
"i don't really need anyones help but thank you" i said and gave them a small smile, which baram would be proud of.
"huh really? you just said that you don't know about the project in mr. parks class though?" sunghoon said and raised an eyebrow.
"well that's because you didn't let me explain or even talk AT ALL" i said and shook my head. "this is actually my first day here and i had to take all the exams early at my old uni"
all three of them widened their eyes and just as sunghoon was about to talk, the professor announced that it was time for self study, which all of the students took as a cue to push some of the tables together and make little study groups.
jake and jian did the same and were now sitting across from us.
"wait i'm so sorry for sunghoons rude behavior" jian apologized to which sunghoon gasped offendedly. "we didn't even ask for your name"
"oh no it's not his fault at all. he was just trying to be nice" i laughed. "i'm choi aesam"
"which uni did you attend before?" jake asked and fixed his glasses while all three of them looked at me.
"oh i studied abroad for my first two semesters and then came back to korea. that's why i'm here during the revision lectures"
"i was abroad until high school as well!" jian excitedly said. "i attended school in the uk"
"i was down under" i smiled and jake audibly gasped while jian looked at him excitedly.
"oh my god" sunghoon said and put his hand on my shoulder. "they made you study under the GROUND? NO WONDER YOU'RE SO PALE YOU POOR THING NEVER SAW DAYLIGHT"
"oh good god" jian said and facepalmed herself. "no sunghoon you absolute buffoon she's saying she studied in australia"
"ohhhh" sunghoon said and leaned back before junping back up seconds later. "AYO THAT'S WHERE JAKE IS FROM"
