I felt my gills start to close up. I had to hold my breath now: I start to cough and gag on air, the feeling of suffocation overwhelming me. Somebody became aware of this, and shouted at his crew for something, I then see a tall male run off somewhere as the child and captain came closer. Still gasping, I'm lifted by the captain and soon the tall male came back with a tub thing filled with water. The captain placed me in the tub thing allowing my gills to return so I can breath.
When the blind spots in my vision disappear, I look up to study the people surrounding me. Curious faces stare at me and I stare back. They were speaking a different language, one which I didn't understand. I tilted my head out of the water, and my fins transformed into human ears. I realised that I wasn't in water and quickly started cupping the water from the little tub of water (plus some blood) and throwing it on my gills trying to keep them wet so I can breath. I looked up at the captain with a worried expression, continuing to splash water on my gills. His face scrunched up in confusion then he looked up to the tall guy.
"MONTY! QUICKLY, GET A BARREL WITH MORE WATER IN IT!" He shouted worriedly to the tall guy who I think is monty? Said guy ran to grab another, bigger barrel. Blush spread to my face as I realised how nice his voice was. He picked me up and started to walk somewhere.
"Gregory, tell monty I'll be in my study, ok?" The captain called out. The child started walking in the same direction as monty.
The captain took me to his 'study' which, I guess is a human bedroom? The human stuff is really cool; I saw a mini ship in a bottle - How the hell do you put one in there!? He sat me down on his bed which was so fluffy! But... I was making it wet.
Oh no. Dread spread across my face, I need the water. I think he noticed as my gills disappeared again and I felt like I was being choked again.
The captain had just been running around the 'study' collecting pieces of cloth such as old shirts and pieces of broken off sheets. I was confused for a minuite before he chucked to pile of cloth next to me and began dabbing at my wound. He didn't seem to care about the fact i had already ruined the sheets, or he had not realised yet. He pressed gently against the wound and I bit back a gasp. It hurt - a lot. I tried to disguise my wince of pain but I think he noticed as he stopped for a second and looked up at me with guilt in his eyes. I think he blamed himself...

I wish I had the words to tell him it wasn't his fault, but I looked at the mark on his face again. And remebered. Thankfully, the captain had ready leaned back to get another piece of cloth so he did not notice me blushing, he was so close to my area. He almost touched my slits, I blushed harder as soon as i realised. I think. That today had gone so weirdly...
{Time skip by a few minutes}
Monty soon came into the room with the barrel so the captain picked me up and placed me inside I kept my head above water so I can still talk like them and understand them. The captain sat down at his desk, grabbed a pen and a book? As he wrote in it his face expression changed.
