As Cinderpelt's spirit rose to the stars she could see her former apprentice mourning her cold bloody body. This was it, her life as a ThunderClan medic is now over. So many regrets encircled her mind as if laughing and mocking her.

She regretted only living in the lake territories for such a short amount of time, never fully being able to adventure in it. Despite how much she pretended to detest being in love due to her status as a medic, Cinderpelt regretted never being able to experience love from a mate herself. Never again would she be able to guide her clan by interpreting the stars, now she could only watch as her clanmates struggled without her. Leafpool was alone now, would she be able to carry on without her?

As time moved on, Cinderpelt expected to join with her ancestors in the stars, but only darkness began creeping forward. Eventually, Cinderpelt was all alone in a void with no light to guide her. After what seemed like seasons, Cinderpelt could finally hear a soft whisper in her ear.

"I feel pity for your regrets and sorrows, your life was cut too soon, dear Cinderpelt..."

The voice was deep and raspy but held a sense of power. "You were a wise and loyal cat in your lifetime, never wavering in your faith in the code or your ancestors." She felt conflicted about how to feel, who was this cat and where was she? However, Cinderpelt didn't mind the compliments.

"Perhaps your trust was misguided, as it was your ancestors who convinced your apprentice to run away and leave you alone to defend and heal the clan..."

"What are you saying? Are you blaming StarClan for my quick demise, just who do you think your are?" Cinderpelt meowed defensively, put on edge now by this cat's hostility.

"I mean no offense to you or our ancestors, Cinderpelt. I have seen your efforts to serve your clan and only wish to gift you something in return."
Finally, she could see the eyes of the one speaking to her as they lended a paw. Only the outline of a cat could be seen however as their fur was clouded in darkness.
"I want to offer you a chance for adventure, lasting relationships, and the opportunity to serve you clan once more. Through my power you can be reborn." The offer seemed too good to be true. It was all she could want in more, however, Cinderpelt knew better. Good fortune never came for free.
"The offer of a second life is not something a cat hands out for free. What what would you get out of this?" Cinderpelt's voice was still full of mistrust, something the stranger could pick up clearly. "You are wise to know a chance like this could never come for free. It is true that there is a price, but it pales in comparison to the fortune your new life will bring. You will have full autonomy of your choices and life, I know I could never deceive you Cinderpelt. We do not have much time, so you must make your decision quickly. Do you wish to live once more, or fade away with your ancestors in the stars?"
Cinderpelt sighed, thinking on it for a moment. As much as she loved her ancestors, there was still much that Cinderpelt wanted to do in life. Could she trust this cat though? They were quite odd in how they presented themself. It was clear they were not with StarClan, but this didn't look like any description of the dark forest she'd heard of. Whoever this cat was, they were offering her a chance she would most likely never come by again.
She sighed, "Fine, I'll accept your offer." Maybe she was doing something foolish, but at least she could live in the world she loved once more.
"We'll meet again, Cinderpelt. You will not remember me or this, but you will enjoy the second chance you deserve."
As the cat faded away, Cinderpelt's vision eventually faded to darkness.
