Defiance

Akari knew that simply just casting herself out of heaven wasn't enough to turn her into a monster. There was too much chance involved, she had to make sure, and make sure she did.

Not a lot of people in heaven knew about Akari's original form, but she had to use it in order to make sure her transformation would be successful. She was a scarlet-coloured Jiuweihu (nine-tailed fox).

As she fell down faster and faster, she found herself transforming into a humanoid creature with features of her original form. She had done it. Now, she just had to find Rin in human form and kill him.

First, she cultivated her power as a monster for a few years. As a nine-tailed Huli Jing (fox spirit), she was one of the higher-ranking monsters, with abilities such as shapeshifting, firebending, and mind bending.

After getting familiar with both her powers and modern human technology, she decided to start tracking Rin down. She knew that heavenly spirits at least somewhat resemble their godly selves after being casted out of heaven, so she at least knew what he was going to generally look like.

When Akari finally tracked Rin down, she didn't strike immediately. Instead, she needed to find a natural way to kill him without exposing anything related to heaven.

Of course! She thought, I can use human technology instead of my monstrous form! So she did. She walked over to a local car dealership while shapeshifting into her human form. "Welcome," the dealer had said, "what is a young lady such as you looking for today?"

Akari didn't answer. Instead, she used her mind-bending powers on the dealer to make him think she had already purchased a car. "Thank you for doing business with us!" He said.

Just as Akari was about to leave, the dealer ran after her. "Wait! You haven't paid for the car yet!" Akari sighed, of course she forgot to add on a memory of her paying for the car.

This time, she decided to try a different approach. Instead of trying to mind-bend the dealer, she used her charm ability. "What?! But I did!!" The dealer looked stunned for a second, but snapped out of it. "Ah, yes. Of course you did. My mistake," he said while turning around and walking back to the dealer.

Akari mentally facepalmed at herself after the fiasco happened. Self-reminder: don't forget to add certain memories next time you're trying to use your mind-bending ability on someone.

With that, she drove off with her newly stolen car in order to try and kill Rin with it. Then, she realized that Rin was still in a young form. I'm only killing him. Akari reminded herself, I don't need to cause more harm and imbalance than necessary. Because of this fact, she knew she had to wait for Rin to get older, as he still walked to school with his "mother" at the time.

When the ripe time came, Akari decided it was time. It was the middle of Rin's third grade school year, and his annoyingly protective "mother" finally let him walk on his own. Without a second thought, Akari drove her car at extremely fast speeds, running right over him.

"Ack! What the hell!" She had heard Rin say as the crowd around him gasped and screamed. She was secretly smiling, but she couldn't show it. When officers came over to interrogate her, she wanted to have some fun, so she first said it was done on purpose because she had a grudge against Rin's "mother", which was true for all the wrong reasons.

When the officers were about to attempt to take her to jail, she used her charm ability on all the people in the area and told them that Rin and her never even existed, and that they were just imagining things. She also mind-bent them and removed their memories of anything to do with her and Rin, just for good measures. After that, she decided to return to heaven.

As her spirit was ascending back into heaven, she knew she had to somehow trick The Jade Emperor into thinking that she wasn't guilty of killing the successor to the throne, which wasn't going to be easy.

The time gap wasn't that bad since one year in the mortal realm only equates to one day in heaven, so she could just use the excuse that she forgot to attend to her duties for a few days, but the other coincidences were almost unexplainable.

As Akari barely managed to scramble back into her room in heaven, she heard a voice in her mind. By the command of your emperor, I summon the jeweler, weaver, and maid of the imperial heavenly palace, Akari!

This is it, she thought, it's time to put on an act. But first, she had to make an entrance worthy of heaven. As she flashed into the palace, she used some of her fire abilities in order to add extra effect. Then, she got straight to the point: "I apologize for my absence in the past few days, my lord. I'm assuming that's what I have been summoned for?" She asked in her best gaslighting voice.

"No need for the innocent tone, Ms. Akari," The Jade Emperor's voice was deathly calm, "the heir to the throne and I have already discussed things thoroughly. I know that you have some form of ulterior motives."

Akari let out a heavy sigh. It was clear that she wasn't going to get out of the situation by pretending, but still she had to at least try. "What nonsense are you speaking of, my lord? I sincerely apologize for my past absence, but with all due respect I do not understand you."

The Jade Emperor looked unconvinced. Rin just seemed bored. "Give yourself up, Ms. Akari. What did you wish to achieve by committing homicide, especially on the crown prince?" At this point in time, Akari knew she'd been caught. She sighed in surrender, "Very well, I will admit: I did it."
