Beomgyu couldn’t believe his luck. For the first time in days, he had managed to slip away from Yeonjun. He leaned against the stonewall of the academy, savoring the rare moment of solitude. Taehyun, Soobin, and Kai had finally managed to distract Yeonjun long enough for him to get a breather. It was a much-needed reprieve from the constant presence of the overly affectionate alpha.

The Academy was quieter than usual, most students had went back to their homes for the autumn vacation. He took a deep breath, trying to clear his mind. The past weeks had been a whirlwind of emotions and confusion, and he was desperate for some peace. But as he rounded the next corner, relishing the quiet for a moment, when he realized he wasn’t as alone as he thought.

“Beomgyu,” one of them said, her voice dripping with false sweetness. “We’ve been looking for you.”

Beomgyu frowned, backing up a step. “What do you want?”

Another, a tall boy with slicked-back hair, sneered. “We just want to know what’s going on between you and Yeonjun.”

Beomgyu’s heart raced. He knew rumors had been flying, but he didn’t expect to be confronted so directly. “Nothing is going on. We’re just… it's complicated.”

“complicated?” A third admirer scoffed. “It looks like more than that. Yeonjun’s been all over you. Why would he waste his time with someone like you?”

Beomgyu bristled at the insult. “That’s none of your business.”

“Oh, but it is,” the first admirer said, stepping closer. “You see, Yeonjun belongs with someone like us. Not a nerdy omega who can barely cast a decent spell.”

Beomgyu clenched his fists, fighting to keep his composure. “Yeonjun can be with whoever he wants. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have somewhere to be.”

As he tried to push past them, the tall boy blocked his path. “Not so fast. We’re not done with you yet.”

Beomgyu’s frustration boiled over. He was tired, stressed, and he didn’t have the energy to deal with this. “Move. Now.”

The boy laughed, a cruel sound that echoed in the hallway. “Or what? You’ll hex us? I’d like to see you try.”

The group closed in, forming a tight circle around him. Beomgyu’s heart pounded in his chest as he looked for a way out, but they had him cornered.

“He belongs with us, not you,” the tall alpha growled. “You’re just an obstacle.”

Before Beomgyu could react, a rough hand shoved him back against the wall. Panic surged through him as he struggled to break free. “Let go of me!”

Another alpha grabbed his arm, twisting it painfully. “Maybe we should teach you a lesson.”

Just as Beomgyu braced himself for the worst, a familiar voice rang out, sharp and commanding.

“Get your hands off him!”

Yeonjun appeared out of nowhere, his eyes blazing with anger. He stormed forward, shoving the alphas away from Beomgyu with a force that made them stagger.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Yeonjun demanded, positioning himself between Beomgyu and his attackers.

The alphas hesitated, clearly intimidated by Yeonjun’s fury. “We were just—”

“Just what?” Yeonjun cut in, his voice dangerously low. “Just bullying someone weaker than you? Pathetic.”

The tall alpha glared at Yeonjun. “He’s been keeping you from us. We just wanted—”

“I don’t care what you wanted,” Yeonjun snapped. “Beomgyu is with me. If any of you touch him again, you’ll regret it.”

The alphas exchanged uneasy glances before slowly backing away. “This isn’t over,” the tall one muttered, but he quickly turned and left with the others in tow.

Once they were gone, Yeonjun turned to Beomgyu, his expression softening. “Are you okay?”

Beomgyu nodded, still shaken. “Yeah. Thanks, Yeonjun.”

Yeonjun gently cupped Beomgyu’s face, his eyes filled with concern. “Did they hurt you?”

“No, I’m fine,” Beomgyu said, his voice trembling slightly. “Just a little scared.”

Yeonjun’s grip tightened protectively. “I’m so sorry, Gyu. I should have been here.”

“It’s not your fault,” Beomgyu assured him, trying to calm his racing heart. “I didn’t expect them to corner me like that.”

Yeonjun’s eyes flashed with anger again. “I won’t let them near you again. I promise.”

Beomgyu felt a surge of gratitude and something else he couldn’t quite place. “Thank you, Yeonjun. Really.”

Yeonjun pulled him into a tight hug, and for a moment, Beomgyu allowed himself to relax in the alpha’s embrace. It felt safe, comforting.

“I’ll always protect you, Beomgyu,” Yeonjun murmured into his hair. “No matter what.”

Beomgyu’s heart swelled with emotion, and he found himself wishing that Yeonjun’s feelings were real and not just the result of a potion. But for now, he was grateful for the support.

As they walked back to the main courtyard, Yeonjun kept chattering about their future together, planning weddings and naming their hypothetical children. Beomgyu couldn’t help but glance up at Yeonjun. “Why did you come looking for me?”

Yeonjun shrugged, a sheepish smile playing on his lips. “I missed you. I can’t stand being away from you for too long.”

Beomgyu felt his cheeks heat up. “You’re impossible.”

“But you like me anyway,” Yeonjun teased, nudging him playfully.

Beomgyu rolled his eyes but couldn’t suppress a smile. “Maybe a little.”

As they reached the courtyard, Taehyun, Soobin, and Kai were waiting for them. Taehyun raised an eyebrow, noticing the way Yeonjun’s arm was still protectively around Beomgyu.

“What happened? He just ran away suddenly.” Taehyun asked, his eyes narrowing.

“Just ran into some of Yeonjun’s fan club,” Beomgyu said with a shrug, trying to downplay the encounter. “Nothing we couldn’t handle.”

Soobin’s eyes flicked to Yeonjun, then back to Beomgyu. “You sure you’re okay?”

Beomgyu nodded. “Yeah. Yeonjun saved the day.”

Yeonjun puffed out his chest proudly. “Of course I did. No one messes with my omega.”

Beomgyu groaned. “Yeonjun, we talked about this. Don’t call me that.”

Yeonjun grinned. “But you are my omega. Even if it’s just for a few more weeks.”

Beomgyu’s heart skipped a beat. He hated how much he liked hearing that, even if it was just for a short time. “Let’s just get back to studying. We still have a lot of work to do.”

As they settled back into their routine, Beomgyu couldn’t shake the feeling that things were changing between him and Yeonjun. Despite the potion’s influence, there was something undeniably real about the way Yeonjun looked at him, the way he protected him.

And maybe, just maybe, Beomgyu was starting to feel something real too.

As the sun set over the academy, casting a warm glow over the stone walls, Beomgyu glanced at Yeonjun, who was explaining a complex spell to Taehyun with animated gestures. A smile tugged at Beomgyu’s lips.

This might be the longest, most confusing few weeks of his life, but it was also turning out to be one of the most unforgettable. And as much as he hated to admit it, he was starting to dread the day the potion would finally wear off.
