As Mia and I both try to sneak in to our classroom, hoping our tyrant of a teacher wouldn't notice 2 grown girls tiptoeing their way at the back of the room which is an ampi theatre type of classroom. (Yeah, I know. Well, at least we tried.)

College is a bit different from high school. It's less strict but most rules are still applicable like you still can't be late for class OR after the teacher arrives. Some teachers are actually the ones late for class, you get lucky if you arrive before they do but these teachers usually have a pattern which students easily catch on. It's a part of surviving college.

"So nice of you both to join us Miss Momsen and Miss Smith." The tyrant I mean, our teacher, said interrupting our trying-to-be-ninja moment. "And since you're both late, please prepare a report about Green House gases, and share it to the class tomorrow." Mrs. McCormick informed us with a smug look on her face. She's our Elective 3(Environmental Science) teacher who really likes to torture students and I suspect she gets a high every time she knows she's done something to lessen the free time we have left, not that there's a lot of those considering it's college and every second there's a homework or pop quiz or what not that needs to be done or prepare for.

"What??" Mia blurted out but I pinched her arm so she said, "I mean, yes ma'am." And I nodded before we both slumped down on our seats.

"It's all your fault, if you hadn't spaced out, we wouldn't have been late!" Mia elbowed me as she said this.

"My fault? If you hadn't been chatting in the middle of the hallway, I wouldn't have bumped into you and met Glen! If I hadn't met Glen, I would never have spaced out hence we never would have been late!" I defended myself. One perk of being a nerd, you can always have valid reasons or maybe sarcasm is enough. We were quarreling in a not-so hushed tone at the back of the room.

"ehem! Is the report not enough Miss Momsen? Would you also like to share some information about ways on how to minimize the damage to our Ozone Layer?" Mrs. McCormick said in a challenging tone.

"Uhm, no ma'am. I apologize for the interruption." I said, horrified at the thought of extra homework that wouldn't even give me any credit since I don't need one. (Nerd, remember?) The report isn't really a problem, nothing a little research and snacks wouldn't solve. It's the waste of time that could be used for something more important that really annoys me.

"Too bad. Okay class, as I was saying." She continued, but the disappointment in her voice didn't go unnoticed by everyone. (See? She really likes to torture students! I bet it's her hobby!)

After that, the rest of the day passed by in a blur without incident and before I knew it, the bell is ringing on our last period and it's time to go home. I'm shoving my things in my bag and Mia stood by my side with a glint of something I couldn't tell in her eyes. Like she knows something I don't know. That alone irritates me.

It's Thursday and Friday is really more like free day since we only have 2 classes. Senior year in Nursing is one of the best and easiest years, in my opinion. We get less units, no more P.E. and we spend half of the semester doing intern-like duties at the hospital. I say senior year when Nursing should be 5 years right? Well, our school has thought of a genius way to that. What, you say? Well, they made us study through summer. Yes, that's right. We didn't have summer vacation like a normal college student. We had usual classes and some units cramped into more or less 2 months hence we only have 4 years to graduate. It's not that bad, really. I would rather have that than another year of this torture.

"Okay, spill." I said, tapping my right foot at the same time, waiting. I don't have any energy left to tell her that whatever she's going to tell me isn't possibly important since I know everything school or lesson-wise which means, whatever it is that she'll tell me is either gossip or somewhere along those lines.
