LAURA lee helped lottie slip into one of her nightgowns, the slight chill of the air making the hairs on lottie's arms stand up. the water wasn't any better but once the brunette took one step in, it was inevitable.

laura went in too, holding her hand as they both walked into the water, only stopping when they were knees deep in it. the blonde stood in front of lottie, who looked nervous yet surprised at the same time. laura's expression was a contrast, looking more determined and willing to take action whenever she needed to. she was clearly the expert in this situation.

so finally, lottie took her stance, turning her back towards the water. laura lee held lottie's hand as she stood by her side while her other hand rested on the taller girl's back. lottie kept the other girl's hand close to her chest, gently stroking the back of her hand with her thumb as she mentally prepared for what was to come.

laura lee spoke, "dear heavenly father, please accept lottie into your loving embrace, so that she might recognize your holy spirit, be cleansed of her sins, and welcomed in to the kingdom of heaven. in your name we pray." she closed her eyes, "amen."

lottie quickly glanced at the blonde, unsure of what to say as she continued to move her thumb along laura's knuckles in an urgent manner. "amen." she said, looking away from the other.

"let your faith in him be your guiding light." laura reassured, looking into lottie's dark eyes. she then lowered the girl into the waters of the lake, earning a sharp inhale from the taller girl as she was dipped into the cool water.

lottie, for a moment, felt like she had been dipped into an ocean. her body was drowning but she didn't feel fear at all, instead she felt at peace. her moment of pacific sinking didn't last long as her consciousness was transported into another plane. now she was in some sort of steam tunnel, her hair damp as laura lee's white nightgown stuck to her skin like tape. she looked further into the tunnel until she met eyes with a stag in the middle of the room and she couldn't push down the curiosity such a creature brought to her. the animal looked back at her before walking into a different direction.

she instinctively followed it, being led to stairs that lead up to adead end. there were lit candles decorating the interior of the room, along with stairs—ensuring a somewhat comforting glow of light. lottie didn't question it, and she held up her dress as she slowly made her way up the steps. at the top of the stairs, there was an alter surrounded by bright candles.

lottie observed each flame in front of her, taking note of the singular candle in front of her that had yet to be lit. the brunette turned to take a long match from a nearby cup and she used the flame of another candle to light it. once she lit the candle, she blew out the match and let it fall out of existence. she watched as the once small flame began to grow rapidly, bigger than the other flames: lighting the room even more than it already was. it captivated lottie but deep down she felt like such a small flame shouldn't be growing so quickly. so she watched it glow brighter with a sense of worry and enchantment.
