IT wasn't long before the sun began to shine once more, lighting each of the girl's features; at least the ones that were awake or near a window. y/n was still sleeping peacefully, not processing the loss of lottie's arms around her. lottie woke up earlier than her, and she had debated purposely letting the other sleep in late so taissa would leave without her but she knew that wasn't possible.

so lottie sighed in defeat and changed out of her pajamas. she still continued to debate on what the right thing to do was as she changed. by the time she was done, she had finally made up her mind. lottie sighed and walked up to the peaceful y/n. "hey..wake up.." she said softly, a solemn look on her face as she gently shook the other awake.

"lottie?" y/n rasped out, turning to look at the person shaking her. lottie nodded and took y/n's hand, "yeah it's me. if you're still planning on going with tai, you should probably get ready now." she instructed. her thumb traced over y/n's cheek, lightly pinching the skin there. "stop that...did i oversleep? i have to take a bath." she huffed, using her free hand to wipe her eyes.

lottie shook her head, "no, you're awake at the perfect time. you could probably go to the lake and wash yourself before it gets too late." she admitted and y/n squeezed her hand. "well, thank you for waking me up, lott. i might've overslept if you didn't." y/n chuckled, sitting up from the couch.

i wish you did, lottie thought as she gave y/n a weak smile and a nod. y/n got off the couch but lottie refused to let go of her hand, preventing her from walking off. she turned to look at a solemn lottie, who glared at the floor. "i know you still don't want me to go." y/n said softly, still keeping lottie's hand in her grasp. "and i know it's not safe out there, and i know that this is just a huge risk. but that doesn't mean all hope is lost." she explained, a lot more patient than the night before. both of them were more patient, having gotten some well deserved rest and relaxation.

she thought back to lottie's nightmare, how scared she was for her safety. y/n sighed as she let her thumb rub past her knuckles. "i promise, on my soul, that if anything happens, i'll come back here for you, where it's safe." she reassured.

lottie looked up at her, her expression softening as she took in the sincerity of y/n's words. she understood her perfectly, the irritation from the night before faded away into obscurity. if lottie went on a trip like that, y/n would probably be protesting as well. but she couldn't control lottie, just like how lottie couldn't control her.

"you should probably get going.." lottie murmured softly, finally letting go of y/n's hand. y/n went to go get her bag of clothes before she quickly hugged lottie. "get some more sleep if you need it." she said softly before she quietly left the cabin.
