opening my eyes has always been hard in the mornings. it feels like they've been clipped down. sort of like weights resting on my eyelids making it nearly impossible to wake up completely. but this morning i shot out of bed like a rocket and get ready.
I quickly make my own breakfast, throwing a piece of bread in the toaster and getting orange juice and fruit out while the machine worked. I jump in fright as the toast popped out but snatch it and sit down to eat.
breakfast was quick and I find myself subconsciously looking down and checking my phone every few minutes.
I have some errands to run before my 1:30 picnic with Sean. I throw my dishes into the sink, grab my keys and head out the door.
as I walk down the stairs I look down at my yellow tank top and see a giant stain on it.
'typical,' I think to myself, trying to wipe away the strawberry jam. I button up my cardigan one so that you can't see it. once I reach the bottom of the stairs I push open the door and start to walk down the street.
"hey sweet thing," I hear a familiar voice say from behind me and I roll my eyes at her.
I spin around to see a bright eyed lissa. she wears a black and white flannel around her waist and a tight red tank. her faded jeans expose her every curve and she told it off with black doc martens. I scold myself for looking her up and down and she just smirks at me.
"where ya goin' babe?" lissa questions, the words making my heart drop.
she catches up to me and smiles at me flirtatiously. the way she licks her lips makes me have to look away and I scrunch up my face.
"uh," I say, suddenly forgetting my plans. "oh yeah! I'm going to the store."
"no way! I'm headed there as well! how ironic!" she winks at me. and skips a few steps ahead, twirling around to face me and walking backwards.
"well aren't u just a cup of sunshine this lovely morn!" I say, trying to hold my ground and act as though her ways weren't getting to me.
"I'm a morning person. but I'm a late night lover as well. I could stay up for hours." she say and bites her lip. I almost slip out a groan at her action. this girl is killing me. why is she doing this to me?
"What do you need at the store?" lissa asks me, innocently. I think for a second and pull out my phone and check the list I made in my notes.
"uhh... let's see." I say as we continue to walk. the grocery store is in sight. "cookies. sandwich meat. lettuce. lemonade."
"sounds like a picnic!" lissa says.
"actually yeah, Sean and I are going on one this afternoon." I respond.
I see the happy look on her face drop a little bit. "I see. have fun she says, walking away."
"lissa!" I say, not wanting this mystery to float away without my unraveling it first. "wait. why don't you join us?"
"ah I couldn't. I've got to meet my mum and shop with her this afternoon. thanks though! I'll catch up with you two later maybe. yeh?" she says flashing me that intoxicating grin once more before racing off into the grocery store.
