"genuinely, who do you think you are?"

𝕐𝕆𝕌ℝ ℙ𝕆𝕍:

where has lynette gone? she was supposed to update me on everything an hour ago.

here i am, waiting outside this bougie café in the city, scrolling on my phone like some girl who got stood up on a date. i can literally see people walking past me with pity in their eyes.

there's been no new posts about my little game on the school blog, and it slightly soothes my worries, but it also gets me a bit scared.

what if someone else, who isn't charlotte, follows the clues and posts everything?

i was thinking about playing another trick on lyney just before the very end, but with everything that's been going on, i don't think i will anymore.

and i know i look pretty sad sitting here all by myself, but i'm sure i don't look that sad.

not sad enough for someone unfamiliar be staring right at me.

"what are you doing, y/n?" a familiar voice said behind me, and i jumped.

it was only lynette, well, not only lynette because freminet was with her.

"oh, lynette!" i shoved my phone in my pocket, glad to finally see the girl i had been waiting for.

"hey, y/n." i could see that freminet had lyney's cards in his hands, so that meant that lyney hadn't given him back pers yet.

"i told freminet about everything, i hope you don't mind?"

"no, no, it's fine. he was bound to figure out with pers missing and everything. so, what kept you so long, lynette?"

lynette sighed, twiddling with her fingers. "lyney was looking for freminet everywhere. he even asked me where he was. i was trying to hide freminet from lyney, but it took longer than i expected. sorry to keep you waiting so long, y/n."

"it's all good." freminet passed me the cards.

the cards had my name, in washable ink, of course, written on them, since i couldn't fit the next clue on something so small.

i could however, put the name of a place on them and a time and date if i wrote small enough.

i was thinking about ending this entire game with a date, since i had, obviously, started this whole game with the intention of being able to talk to lyney.

i took a pen out of my pocket, and wrote down a location, and a date below my name.

"you're so lovesick, it's embarrassing." lynette giggled and i shot her a playful glare.

a few more seconds passed, and i was done writing everything down and handed the cards back to freminet.

i leaned back in my chair, an awkward smile on my face. "so.. anyone up for some cake?"

i'd almost forgotten how beautiful you look when you're laughing. or smiling. or just simply breathing.

and i hate how i can't have you all to myself again. i know i made some mistakes, but i want you back, y/n.

i can't believe that you've stopped so low to romantically pursue a magician. he couldn't treat you nearly as well as i did. buy you all the expensive gifts you want, shower you in praise and affection.

just give me another chance, and i'll show you how perfect our relationship would be.

i'm almost certain you've noticed me by now, with your nervous, quick glances back at me while trying to keep the conversation going with your little friends.

i wonder if you know it's me, or if you have no idea who i am?

honestly, i shouldn't be here just staring at you. you'll think badly of me.

maybe i should try my own little game with you? or i should get rid of that stupid little magician.

i'm sure arlecchino would kill me if i did something like that to her children, though.

hm, what to do..?

"is he gone yet?" freminet whispered to me, not daring to look back at the man who was staring right at us.

"he's getting up to leave.. he's by the door.. and he's gone!"

"oh, thank gosh.." lynette sighed, leaning forward with her elbows on the table. "do you know who he was, y/n?"

"no idea. he had his hood up so i couldn't properly see his face. he must've known me, though. who just randomly stares at college students in a café?"

"he didn't even order anything either.. he just came here to stare at us. specifically you, though, y/n." lynette glared at his figure, which was slowly fading as he was walking away from the café.

"let's just get out of here. i don't wanna see that guy again.." freminet said, and we agreed with him.
