"Have you always been this insufferable?" Sarada muttered, avoiding eye contact

"Have you always been this insufferable?" Sarada muttered, avoiding eye contact. The blond was not deterred though, as he leaned across the fence, resting his head on his hand so he could observe her more easily.

"Oh, come on, just tell me what's making you all jumpy lately!" Boruto pressed, leaning further over the edge of the fence. If he were being honest, he didn't like jumpy Sarada. Whenever he got too close, she would make up some excuse to leave and no matter what he tried, he just couldn't get her to stay. It was driving him nuts not having Sarada to talk to, but he would first eat his leg rather than admit that.

This was the first time in a week that he'd managed to talk to Sarada and, of course, the first thing he'd done was tease her. Way to go, Boruto. That'd get her to speak with him. She turned away from him until he was left with no choice but to jump over the fence so he could finally look at her face.

"What..." Sarada trailed off, eyes widening at the sight of Boruto in front of her. He didn't wear his usual smile, and that worried her. Had she gone too far trying to hide a silly little crush that she'd accidentally put their friendship on the line?

"Um...what are you doing? Get back, you're too close." She said as she backed away, though there was nowhere to move, her back hitting the fence. She was left staring desperately at him to move, to try to communicate that through her eyes, but he wouldn't budge.

"Just tell me what I did that's got you avoiding me every time I see you." He frowned, blocking her path by putting his foot on the fence when she tried to move.

She bit her lip in thought, and Boruto couldn't help but stare. Has she always done that? Had her lips always been that red or had she put some product on that morning? His weird thoughts were thankfully interrupted when Sarada spoke.

"I was worried you'd tease me if I...told you." She said, wincing. He scrunched his eyebrows and stared at her until she continued. "I think that guh!" she said in exasperation, covering her face with her hands.

Boruto could only stare until he grabbed her hands, moving them away with surprisingly no effort. Though when he saw her face, he wished he hadn't. Something settled in his stomach at her red face. Normally he would be happy to see the way she flushed a red similar to her clan's crest...but only when he was the one making her flush. Maybe he wasn't ready to admit to himself, but it gave him some type of satisfaction knowing he was the only guy to make the stoic Sarada turn red. But clearly, that's not the case anymore.

"You have a crush on someone and you think I'm going to tease you about it?" He asked, but when she flushed further, he already had his answer, even without her words. He suddenly dropped her hands like they had burned him and adopted his easy-going smile.

"Jeez, Sarada, have some faith in me, will ya?" He said as he backed away from her. Suddenly it felt as though he could no longer be around her, especially after knowing that she was pining after some fool who didn't even deserve her. "I won't tease you if you don't want me to, you know." He said as a way of parting, jumping over the fence.
