Mikala flipped through her phone for her next destination, but none felt right. More to the point, she just didn't want to leave home. She'd already decided to have a more sedentary lifestyle and as much as she craved retreating from her broken heart, she ultimately didn't have it in herself to go it alone yet again. With a guffaw as she shook her head, she tossed her phone aside and let her head fall back on her couch as her mind was filled with thoughts of Kennedy. She hadn't been able to rid her from her mind since her departure earlier and knew she wouldn't be vacating it any time soon.

She still wasn't exactly sure what she'd done, but she knew it was bad if Kennedy had run from her, recoiled from her touch so swiftly. Mikala raised her hand and looked at it as the evening sun's light cast her rather open concept house in a lovely burgundy hue. This hand... It held onto Kennedy the night prior as they slumbered together. It was so warm when filled with the woman of her dreams, but now grew colder by the moment as she remembered her pulling away from her.

"She told you to stop. Maybe you should listen..." She outwardly reminded herself as she sat forward with a huff. Her front doorbell rang and she groaned as she got to her feet. "Give me a second."

Mikala took downtrodden steps toward her front door, sure it was her little brother who'd come to check on her after receiving a call from Hugo, no doubt. However, as soon as the door swung open she was faced with someone she hadn't anticipated seeing until Monday and a shiver ran up her spine as they locked eyes with one another. Kennedy stood there in nothing more than a pure white, loose-fitted shirt with a plunging neckline and cut off jean shorts that showed off the legs Mikala had dreamt about time and time again. They were Kennedy's best asset and she had to wrench her eyes from them to meet her gaze once more, finding paramount resolve in them.

After taking a step back, Kennedy astonished Mikala even more by following her inside. She breathed rather intensely as she drew nearer to her and closed her front door, locking it behind herself. Kennedy wasted no time getting up close and personal with her, running her eyes over her entire face as if she was searching for something. She reached up and gulped as she cupped her cheek, then released a long winded sigh with fluttering eyes. Just what the hell was happening...?

Mikala didn't dare move as Kennedy inched closer until their bodies met, fighting against herself to not give into her natural urge to connect with the horse wrangler even more. Apparently, Kennedy didn't harbor the same inclinations as she took hold of her arms and wrapped them around herself. She leaned against Mikala's front and exhaled as she instinctively locked her arms around her waist, consumed by whatever was building between them. Kennedy moved her hands up her arms, running them up to her shoulders, then onto her neck. She traced her taut neck muscles, and then threaded the fingers of one of her hands into her shaggy, blonde hair. Her other hand found its way to her jaw and she urged her down toward herself.

When Kennedy's lips pressed firmly against hers, Mikala felt her eyes rolling and she caressed her back, realizing she wore no bra. Swallowing hard as she pulled back, she gazed into her eyes and felt her heated breaths like tufts along her lips.

"I'm so sorry, Mikala. I should never have run from you and should have just said what's been bothering me." She opened her mouth to reply, but Kennedy placed her fingers over it with the slight shaking of her head. "No, let me say this. Please." She nodded, but didn't detach herself from her. Not that she would have been able to even if she tried and that was the last thing she craved. "I ran because I was scared you would leave. I know you want to own this home, but I also know you love your travels. I don't want to be the person to stop you from enjoying them, but I also don't want to lose you. I should've just said as much, but I'm a coward and--"
