Taehyung stares at himself in the mirror. The dress is beautiful, the veil is beautiful, the ring is beautiful, and even the person looking back at him is beautiful. But on the inside, he is screaming. This isn't what he wants. This isn't what he has dreamed about all these years.
Jungkook's dark-gray eyes haunt Taehyung the whole night in his dreams. He is terrified. If there is anything beyond terrified, that is what he feels right now. His wedding day is here. And it is with a man he barely knows and greatly fears. He sits in the chair, looking down at his palms. He can feel the tears begin to swarm his vision, but he can't let them fall. If his makeup is smeared, they will know, and he will be insulting his father, Jungkook and his family, and everyone else from his family that has faith in him. This is their salvation. Taehyung's marriage to Jungkook is a gold seal of his family's protection. They are practically untouchable. But not Taehyung. After today, he will belong to Jungkook.
A knock sounds on the door, which is opened to reveal his father. He steps in and stands in the doorway for a moment. Just a moment.
"You look beautiful, Taehyung."
His breath catches in his throat. His father has finally said something meaningful to him after all these years. And it is the day he is giving him away to a monster. All these years, all Taehyung has ever wanted from his father is some kind of recognition, some kind of proof that he loves him. And he tells him this the day he is to give him away, against his will. Taehyung can feel the hate boiling up inside him.
The music in the church sounds, and that is his signal. With his father by his side, Taehyung walks down the aisle, to be handed over to Jungkook for the rest of his life.
Jungkook stands at the end of the trail, eyeing Taehyung, his gaze traveling up and down his body. He looks devastatingly handsome in his dark tux, with his hair pushed back. If Taehyung weren't so scared, he might have been able to appreciate his husband's good looks.
Once Taehyung reaches the end of the aisle, his father lets go of him and Jungkook takes his hands in his. The preacher begins his sermon, but Taehyung can barely focus on what he is saying. Jungkook is staring him down, his gaze never faltering as Taehyung repeats his vows.
It is almost as if Jungkook were looking at Taehyung like he was his new, shiny toy and he couldn't wait to play. Taehyung can see the danger lurking behind Jungkook's eyes. He can feel it radiating off his every pore.
The church falls silent as the priest looks at Taehyung for his answer. All eyes within the church fall on him. Taehyung stares at Jungkook and can see the smirk pulling at his face.
"I do."
As soon as the words are spoken, Jungkook leans in and puts his lips against Taehyung's. They are soft and warm as he reaches around to cup the back of Taehyung's head, claiming him in front of everyone they know.
The reception is grand. There are fountains of chocolate, decorations, and desserts—the whole building looks like something out of a movie or magazine. Jungkook hasn't said two words to Taehyung since they arrived. They are both seated at the table for the bridal party. Everyone dances and rejoices at the expense of Taehyung's misery.
The night drags on, and so do the events. The mic calls for Jungkook and Taehyung to make their way over to the massive cake that is on the table before them. They each have a slice in their hands, ready to feed each other. Taehyung slowly presses his piece of cake into Jungkook's mouth, and he does the same. As soon as the sweet pastry touches Taehyung's tongue, he feels a warm mouth envelop his fingers. He gasps in shock as Jungkook focuses on him, with those steel eyes on him.
Jungkook looks as though he wants to devour Taehyung, not just the cake he has in his mouth. Taehyung feels numb and terrified, the events of the night scaring him to the point of nothing.
The reception is finally over—meaning, the thing Taehyung has been dreading all night is drawing even nearer. He feels a tug on his hand and looks up to see Jungkook watching him.
"Are you ready?" Even though it's a question, it comes out as a statement. He is watching Taehyung with such intensity that he can only nod in response. A smile stretches across Jungkook's face.
"Good." Jungkook stands from the table, and hand in hand, they exit the reception hall.
The guests follow them out the door, smiles on their faces, congratulating them all. Their closest family stands at the end of the line. Jungkook's father pulls him aside and begins speaking to him. Taehyung's father stands by him and starts talking.
"I'm proud of you, Taehyung. You have made me and your family proud," he says.
Taehyung can tell it is all rehearsed, though. There is no smile from him or anything. All these years, all Taehyung wanted from him was recognition. Love. Affection. Something. And he shows him something the day he gives him away. Bastard. And now all Taehyung wants from him is nothing. He finally realizes his hatred for this man.
Taehyung doesn't say anything to him. He walks right past him, intent on seeing Yuna, when he jerks Taehyung's arm, pulling him backward roughly. Taehyung lets out a small whimper from the tight hold he has on him.
"What the hell are you thinking disrespecting me like that, you ungrateful little b—"
He is cut off as Jungkook comes to Taehyung's side. Taehyung's father immediately lets go of his arm.
"As of four hours ago, Taehyung is now mine. My spouse. You have no control over him anymore. So if you handle my spouse roughly again, I will sever your fingers."
Taehyung feels a chill rush up his spine at Jungkook's words, and when he looks at his face, he grows even more fearful. Jungkook is dead serious. Taehyung's father's face grows red, but he knows better than to mess with the future heir of the North Seoul.
Taehyung gives him one last look before making his way over to Yuna. She envelops him in a tight hug.
"I'm so scared, Yuna," he whispers in her ear.
She stiffens as she takes his words in. "You'll be fine. Everything will work out." She smiles at him. "I love you, Taehyung. Don't forget to come and visit me. It may not be all bad."
Taehyung feels a tug on his arm and looks up. Jungkook is pulling him toward the waiting car. And his future.
