When A Solder Goes Home

A boy not yet a man, holds that picture to his heart,

His family who will not be forgotten though the oceans kept them apart.

He was called to serve his country, the land, which we call the homeland of the brave,

Thou he did not want to go, but in time of need everyone has a duty which needs to be done.

His was war.

Thought out it all, he held his head up, never showing fear

For fear is weakness, and weakness is not what he is.

That boy saw many die, some his coworkers, some his enemies, some friends

But has he embraced his best friend watching him, die slowly because of a gunshot wound,

He now knows what it is like to fight a war that is not worth fighting.

Thou he will keep moving one; he will always remember his friends death, till death himself comes to came him.

That boy is no more; he is now a man,

He wished for peace when he was a kid,

But now he knows that you have to fight to get what you want.

On that bloody battle field, under the setting-sun he dreams of home,

He dreams because that is all he can do.

Because God is calling him home, away from the war, just like he has done to many before.

A solider going home, to his family and friends,

For now he is know under Gods roof, safe and sound

Watching us from above, keeping us safe.

And watching over the soldiers, keeping them save, so they don’t get called home to early.
