"Welcome to your new job! Mr/Miss (Y/N.!) Congratulations on becoming the night guard!."

Your now boss slowly leaned in, looking around he whispered as if someone would hear him.

"Our last night guard was a bit...Crazzzyyyy."

He let out a small laugh but his eyes told a different story- you tilted your head but gave a bright smile.
Covering up your concerns...

The boss clapped his hands together and gave your back a light and encouraging pat.
"Well! Good luck (Y/n!.) and remember what I told you about Jack O Moon!  If you sense he's near or see he's in the middle of an attempt to scare you-

They said scare using air " " quotations.
*Red flag* you thought.
You squinted your eyes in suspicion but you let the boss finish what they were saying.
"Just use the flashlight!"

The boss then gave you a stern look.
"Don't let that flashlight run dead...There are several charging stations...If it goes dead then...-
The boss stopped talking, looking to the floor as if they were lost in thought, their eyes darted back to you.
They smiled.
"Let's just hope you aren't afraid of the dark! Again, Good Luck (Y/n!.)"

You heard a cackle...

You looked down at your flashlight, the cackles growing closer, you looked up and froze..two yellow eyes were staring at you...the smile...or what you assumed to be their smile was jagged...it reminded you of when someone carved a smile into a pumpkin...

Still looking at the Jack O Lantern figure you pressed the button on the flashlight, a loud *click* was heard and Jack O Moon froze.

The light turned on, taking full hold of the flashlight, the light began to flicker-
"Oh no..."
You whispered to yourself...

Looking back to Jack O Moon he continued to approach but this time at a much slower pace...

As the flashlight continued to flicker, you watched in caution as the robot approached you.
You were hesitant to speak but figured this was your best bet...
"H-hello?."
You asked in a quiet tone.
So quite you weren't sure if he would've heard it but he did...he stopped again and tilted his head...

*Why does he keep stopping?*

You sighed, looking back down to the flashlight that was still struggling to keep its light on...You decided to do something stupid...You took a step forward, Jack stopped again...his eyes scanned you from top to bottom...locking eyes with you, his eyes quickly shifted back down to the flashlight, he pointed a finger at it and tilted his head some more, his voice came out a bit raspy as he spoke.

'The light....It hurts....Why?."

He looked back up at you, your eyes widening, you honestly hadn't expected him to say anything back! But he did! He- Your gaze lowered down to the flickering flashlight...

"Hurts?." You mumbled to yourself...

You pushed the button, the darkness now overtaking the once lit-up area.

You turned your head and screamed in fright, you jumped back from startlement!

Jack was inches from your face!

You put a hand to your heart.
"You scared me! Oh my goodness....Please don't do that anymore okay?."

Jack nodded.

You gave a small smile.
"I don't know what the boss was talking about....you seem harmless...."

Jacks demeanor changed...You could tell he wasn't very happy....
"The boss is not nice...They're mean towards all the animatronics..."

You frowned.
Jack looked back to you and gave a questioning look.
"You're not scared of me?...why?.''

Your frown deepened.

"Well...You haven't done anything to make me scared...I know I acted a bit...On edge a few moments ago but that was part of the job description...I was told to be cautious...I'm sorry Jack....can you forgive me please?."

Jack nodded and stepped forward, reaching his hand out for you to take, you placed your hand in his and the two of you smiled at each other.

"I think this is the start of something wonderful don't you Jack?."
Jack nodded.
